

LaRayne K. Rhodes Howa Esplin, age 60, passed away peacefully at home May 13, 2011, surrounded by family and close friends. Born Nov. 20, 1950, the fifth of seven children, to Clark Mearl and Norma Boren Rhodes, Price, Utah. Married Raymond Howa, 1967, SLC, UT, later divorced. Married Ronald Esplin, 1986, Phoenix, AZ, later divorced. LaRayne was a free-spirit with a heart of gold, a talented artist, excellent cook, with a landscaper's green thumb. Unafraid to tackle construction projects, she designed and helped construct her own home in Black Canyon, AZ, With her father's mechanical capabilities, and small 5' 1" frame, replaced the engine in her sister's Mustang, LaRayne authored two poetry books, 1983, 1988, and was sole editor of the Poets Paper for several years. Multitalented professions included electronics, accounting, diesel parts order, real-estate agent, security guard and elementary school custodian. Survived by (two) children, Lorie Williams and Lonnie Howa; siblings, Donald (Peggy) Rhodes, Carol (Gordy) Brown, Judy (Kyle) Sizemore, Ted (Norma) Rhodes and Rocky (Patsy) Rhodes; (three) grandchildren, Bryan, Brandyn and Brytnye; (eight) nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandparents, parents and oldest brother, Gale R. Rhoades. Special thanks to all the physicians and assistants, and many home care providers that helped ease LaRayne's physical challenges as a result of multiple strokes related to (CML) Leukemia. A "Celebration of Life" will be held in LaRayne's honor at her home in Magna, Utah, Sat, May 21,1-5 p.m.; Interment Ferron City Cemetery May 23, 2011, 3 p.m.
