To the Tolman family,
What a terrible loss.  Working with Lowell at Delta, he always brought cheer to your day.  A man admired for beating the odds again and again, he was an inspiration.  I am sorry for your loss.

We will miss those last minute meals you would fix and the crazy way the birds talked to you. you helped me throught some hard times and for that I'll be eternally grateful. It was more than any big brother would have done. You took care of me when I needed you most.Conrad and Lillian will miss you for a long long time. You treated everyone like family. Lowell had nine lives and on his tenth life we knew this day would come and we still weren't ready for you to no longer be in our lives. We will miss you every day. We'll make it through cuz we're Tolman's

I was very sadden to hear of Lowell's passing. He was a great friend to all and one that was always willing to help others.  He was an inspiration to many and shared his many talents with us all. I remember when he brought me a bonzai plant.  I still have it and think of him every time I see it.  We have all lost a great friend... My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.

Dearest Irene, We send our love and sympathy to you at this time, after losing the love of your life.  Our memories of him are wonderful, and we want you to know that he was loved.  We love you, and will pray for peace to come to you, knowing that you will be runited again.  Love Always,

  Clair, Ryan and I couldn't have had a better big brother.  In our childhood days, Lowell taught us two great lessons:  1) What NOT to do to get dad's temper up and 2) if we DID do what we shouldn't do, what to do to prevent the action from coming to light.  He let me tag along to his softball and basketball games and shared his skills and enthusiasm for sport.  
   After we added a few years and supposedly matured a little bit, he kept his optimism and continued to share the pleasures of his life with everyone.  He and Irene always seemed to make time to welcome my family with open arms on our infrequent and sometimes inconvenient visits.

When I married Lowell's younger brother, Wendell, at the tender age of 20, my parents could not attend the temple with me.  Although he'd never met my father before, Lowell spent the whole day with him, talking and laughing, so that my father wouldn't feel so bad about not being able to be with me.  I never forgot that lovely kindness, nor did my father, who mentioned it frequently throughout the rest of his life.

Wendell always looked up to Lowell, and wanted to be as fun and brave as his big brother.  I've never met anyone who could match Lowell for the optimism and bravery with which he faced his long and daunting illness.  Refusing to discuss it, he just wanted to fish, play with Irene, Marquette and the grandchildren, travel, garden, or collect another animal.

There are people who seem to diminish the light around them, and then there are those who seem to fill up a room with the brightness of the soul and the energy of their life.  Lowell was the latter -- and I'm sure he still is.  I'm sure Rhonda's right -- Tim and Lowell are fishing, and they're probably getting up a game of football or baseball with Wendell's father Alvin and my father Roger.  

We'll all be there someday -- I'll be really happy to see Lowell again, whole and healthy and delighted.  Just like always.

Irene, you've always been the strength of this family -- when people couldn't talk to each other, they called you about it and you helped them work it out.  You and Lowell have been so solidly together all these years, and with his difficulties through the years, and especially the last several months, you and Marquette and Jeff have stood together in the storm.  We love you, and our hearts ache for you.

Lowell, was one of the most positive people I ever met.  No matter what life threw at him, his attitude was alway's unbelievable. It was an honor and a privilege to have known and worked with Lowell... God Bless

I was a classmate of Lowell, at Granger High School, and though we have not seen each other since then, I was honored to have known hm, and express my sincerest condolensces to his family.

Irene......My thoughts and prayers are with you and Marquette right now......I will always remember all of the support and Love you showed Tim and I...From the trips to Las Vegas our wedding and the passing of Tim.  Your love you showed me, TJ and Trey and his family is something that I will always remember for the rest of my life!  They still talk and ask about you to this day.  Your generousity and support I will never forget.  I love you both so much!!!   Lowell and Tim are fishing now!!!!!

I am very sorry to hear of Lowell's passing.  I respected his perseverence and commitment to life.

    my condolences on the passing of Lowell. he had more than "fought the good fight." I'm sorry I was unable to attend the viewing--didn't want to expose you to my cold. The obituary was very well written and an appropriate tribune to Lowell. I hope you're coping as well as can be expected. Mont.

Irene and Family,

You and Lowell have been an inspiration for me and my family for many years.  I've told my family about your trials and your wonderful attitude in accepting those trials.  

I have never heard you or Lowell complain or anything negative about your lot in life, but always found you folks at peace within yourselves concerning these very important matters.

It has been said....Life is what happens to you while making other plans.  I know that none of your family planned on these events to consume so much of your talents, time and energy, but as the Lord is mindful of all his children, He will more than compensate all of you for your kindness to Lowell, his family and friends.

As Lowell's uncle, I want to express my love and appreciation for your example of endurance, patience, and acceptance of the Lord's will in all things that have come your way and look forward to the day that we can renew and continue our association with one of our Heavenly Father's very special sons.

It seems my earliest happy memories include Lowell.  He spoiled me and always made me feel like i was his favorite!  I regret that i didn't get to know him as an adult; it's great to read that he was as great a man as my childhood memories recall. Although we were only two years apart in age,I feel as though Lowell was somewhat of a mentor to me. Shorty after being discharged from the Army, with a bit of bitterness in my Soul, I met Lowell, he was my supervisor and fellow team mate/coach for Wycoff Co. During my employment there He encouraged me (and others)to do our best. And at no time was he ever condescending or acted like he was better than anyone or had an "air of authority." I ran into Lowell ten years or more after those days and he was the same Lowell I remembered.                                 During my mothers fight with leukemia I often remembered Lowell's words and how people with a Special Soul can fight and overcome,be a influence on others and be remembered for the good that they have brought to this existence. There are those that one feels happy or glad that we have made the list of acquaintances or friend,some feel privileged, for me it all three.Irene and Family I know you will always have Lowell's' Spirit. It was always a treat to visit Uncle Lowell: bonsai trees, exotic food, brain tumor jokes, and lots of laughs. Irene and Marquette, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Lowell was a very kind and gentle man.  What great memories all of us at Delta Airlines have of him.  He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers for his family in this difficult time

Through all his medical encounters, Lowell never asked "why me", but insteaqd "what can I do to help?" He was always giving. His many talents were admired by all who were lucky enough to know him. Many fond memories working with Lowell at Delta, and discussing his hobbies outside of work will remain locked in our hearts forever. I remember Lowell always playing with Marquette on the trampoline and doing tricks that were fit for an acrobat.  I remember his energy and that he always seemed to be showing us something from his garden and trying to get us to eat things we had never heard of.  It was the first time I  heard of Swiss Chard or Kale. I think it was Lowell who told my mom I was hiding out with Curly in the doghouse getting fleas.  I'm sorry for your loss. I love you all.

Knowing Lowell was a wonderful lesson in how we should live our lives.

Lowell was loving,tender,thoughful and caring.He was always kind and gracious,one who never minded sharing. Lowell was the gentle type with a heart made of gold. He was one in a million and couldn't be bought, borrowed or sold. He always
wore a smile on his face. Lowell was given as a gift,sent straight from above,wrapped in tenderness,warmth, wisdom and love. He was made to perfection  with God's gentle touch May a flight of angles take him to his resting place.

In a time such as this, words can not begin to express our deep sadness and heartbreak at the loss you have experienced. The pain you feel is shared by many as Lowell generously impacted numerous lives and souls on every path he took. Through his warmth, his intelligence, and his ability to teach he gave a gift to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Irene, you have amazed us with your spirit, your strength and your courage. Your ability to take this man and make him a better, happier person is so admirable; you are an angel walking among us. During this time of great sadness please accept our condolences at the loss of your wonderful partner, husband, and friend.
Lowell, over the past few days I have reflected on the great man I saw you to be and how the stories and memories of you steadily capture my attention. I will forever cherish the many hours we spent together, talking, listening, and laughing; you always seemed to be the center of attention.
From the simplest issues such as you hiring on with the airline industry and how it could be handled easier, to where and how you grew up, and the life you had found with a wonderful angel you called Irene; I never grew tired of the time I was able to share with you.
For me, the most heartwarming stories were those of your grandchildren. When you spoke of them your eyes would light up and the love you felt for them was undeniable. I would often tease you about how you yourself were much like a child and that the energy you had would not only serve to keep up with them, but run circles around them.
Lowell, the last time we spoke you were aglow with the prospect of going home and playing with your Birds, and you told me how this was your 'dream job.' You were so enthusiastic, this is the Lowell I will forever remember and hold dear in my heart.
Lowell, the last memory I would like to share is that of a joke between us. I use to always tease you about how you danced like your Birds, how I was going to have to put you in a cage if you keep acting like one of them.
Now I will cage up the memories but you are free to fly in the wind and watch over all of those who care so much for you.
