1930 ~ 2012
On August 9, 2012, Marlo K. Bergeson passed away peacefully in his home in West Valley City, Utah, surrounded by family. He was born on December 29, 1930, in Smithfield, Utah. A few years later his family moved to Logan, where he learned how to work hard on the family farm. He also found time to participate in several sports and was a great ballroom dancer. After graduating from Logan High School he joined the U.S. Navy, but after one year of service he was given a special discharge in order to serve an L.D.S. mission in Sweden, where he joyfully served for three years and developed a deep love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This love continued throughout his many Church callings such as Elders Quorum President, Stake Missionary, High Priest Group Assistant, and a member of the Scout Committee, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Marlo married Joyce Unsworth on October 10, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. After a few years in Salt Lake City, where they welcomed two children into their family, they made their home in Bountiful, where two more children were born. In 1981, they moved to West Valley so they could be closer to Kennecott Copper, where Marlo worked for twenty-one years in various jobs, his favorite being electrician. He was also a master of other trades, such as auto mechanics and plumbing. He shared these and other skills in many hours of service to whomever needed it, and after leaving Kennecott he was able to use these skills while working for J.P. Realty. Throughout his employment and hours of service he developed many lasting friendships.
He is preceded in death by his father, Abraham Marion Bergeson; his Mother, Asia Humphreys Bergeson; a sister, Romana Evans; and a brother, Lavar Bergeson. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Craig (Crystelle), Blaine (Julia), and Allen (Becky); daughter Jill (Jeremy), 19 ½ grandchildren; a sister, Rosaland Thornton (Troy); and a brother, Carlos Bergeson (Shirley);
