Melissa McBride Farnworth, our beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, passed away in the LDS Hospital at the age of 42 after a valiant year long fight with cancer. She never murmured through the pain and discomfort that she endured. She was born on April 6, 1975, to Brian and Carol McBride. Melissa enjoyed gymnastics and she was on the drill team for three years at Hunter High School. After graduating from Hunter, Melissa was a member of the Crimson Line up at the University of Utah for one year and worked as a pharmacy technician for three years. She married Shawn Farnworth in the Salt Lake Temple in 1995.
Melissa was a light to all those who knew her and she always had an attitude of gratitude. She loved participating in her children’s activities and her true desire was always to be a stay at home mom for her children and for her children to be faithful members of the church. Melissa had many wonderful talents and hobbies including gymnastics, dancing, baking sweet treats, and writing notes of thanks which she did for anyone that she thought needed it. She loved putting up inspired quotes all over the house, reading and studying the scriptures, listening to devotionals, adventures with her family, planting a vegetable garden, her Tuesday chats with her missionary son in Samoa, and she always cherished her family times at night faithfully reading scriptures and saying family prayers. Up until her declining health prevented her, she enjoyed decorating her home to make all welcome and comfortable, picking up her kids from school to hear about their day and finding service opportunities to help others. As an active member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, Melissa served in various capacities and callings throughout her lifetime.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Shawn Farnworth; her four children, Joseph, Christian, Andrew, and Sariah Farnworth; her parents, Brian and Carol McBride; her siblings, Nikki Skadal (Jeremy), Jared McBride (Jani), and Cami Egelston (Thom).
