Merlin C. Horrocks passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2010.
Merlin was born in Vernal, Utah on October 11, 1928 to Curtis and Bernice Neilson Horrocks. He married Joyce James on May 28, 1949. They were married 59 years, and were the proud parents of 4 sons. Merlin worked for Kennecott Rail Road for 30 + years, as well as the W.P. and Rio Grande. He was a Veteran of WWII. He served in the Merchant Marines, and later for the U.S. Army in Korea. He was an Honorary Captain of the Confederate Airforce. He loved flying, fishing, his grandchildren, and Geraldine.
He is survived by his children, Lex (Sherilyn), Brent, Kevin (Cathy) and Terry White; sisters, Reva (Mory); 16 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; son, Kirk; 3 sisters, Thora, Rose and Arlene. Special thanks to his faithful companion in travel, Gloria; the staff of Strawberry Campground, the Sheriff Department and Medical Crew. And a very special thanks to the Air Med who took him flying one last time.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South.
