Our adored Nuu passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013. He was born April 30, 1986 to Mapusaga Iva and Tina Tuese Iva in American Samoa. Nuu grew up in Western Samoa and lived there until 2004 when he moved to America. He lived in California before making his final home in Utah.
Nuu was a loving father and husband. He married his sweetheart, Cassidee Ann Whitney on October 25, 2008 in the Salt Lake Temple and together they made a home in West Valley City. He adored their two children, Makai and Lilyanne Tina; they were the loves of his life.
Nuu was a very hard worker, often working two jobs to provide for his family. His favorite job was as a security supervisor for The Complex. Nuu will also be remembered as a talented artist. Many family members and friends have clothing with his original designs. He also enjoyed fitness, often working out and playing sports, such as rugby. Nuu was a member of the LDS Pesega Ward in West Valley City.
Nuu was extremely friendly, caring, and generous with his time and talents. He was the first to offer help and support to anyone in need. He always greeted everyone with a big hug, and another when it was time to say good-bye. When he walked into a room you knew he was there. His laugh, smile and personality were contagious. He loved to make everyone laugh; to entertain others, and to eat! He was proud of his Samoan heritage. He will be missed by all who met him.
Nuu is survived by his wife, Cassidee and their children, Makai and Lilyanne Tina; father, Mapusaga Iva and step-mother, Fa’anati Iva, Samoa; sisters, Temple (Dave) Anae, Spanish Fork; Missouri Iva, Lehi; Jasica Iva, currently serving in the Colorado Springs Mission. Father-in-law, Roger Whitney; brother-in-law, Cade Whitney, and sister-in-law, Cara Whitney. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and his grandmothers. He is preceded in death by his mother, Tina Tuese Iva and mother-in-law, Peggy Dee Whitney.
The family would like to thank all of his friends who attended the candlelight vigil which was held for Nuu on January 28 at The Complex, where he will always be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, a fund for his children has been set-up at any America First Credit Union under the name of Cassidee Iva.
