Our loving Husband, Father, Brother, and Friend, Theron A. Moss passed away December 22, 2010 surrounded by his family. Theron was born June 11, 1932 in his grandmother’s house in Moroni, Utah. Theron was named after his grandfather, Theron Syme who had passed away just months before Theron was born.
His parents were, Arthur L. Moss and Ruth Elizabeth Syme. He was the big brother to two sweet sisters Winnie (Bob) Fiack and Ardith (Alton) Thygerson.
His early education started in Moroni and later his family moved to Standardville, Utah where he graduated from Carbon High School in Price, Utah. He graduated from Utah State Univ. with a BS in Agriculture. Later, he obtained a MS in Social Work from the U of U. He was an ardent fan of both schools.
His studies at USU were interrupted by the Korean War. He joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. Jean Gustavson, his sweetheart from USU joined him there where they were married. Over the years, they had 6 beautiful children, Bob; the oldest and only boy, and 5 sisters; Rebecca, Mary, Peggy, JoEllen and Sara. Theron developed a special relationship with granddaughter, Amanda who suffered the loss of her family in the deaths of her mother, Peggy and her brother, Chance.
Jean and Theron were later divorced. Theron met and married Shirley Murphy. Another beautiful daughter, Shannon was added to the family.
After Shirley passed away, Theron met up with and married his high school sweetheart, Arva L. Cox in 1998. This added three step-sons and 12 step grandchildren to his family. He enjoyed the growth of his family, in all, having now 22 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way. His wife, Arva, and all who were close to him will miss and always love him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Shirley; brother-in-law, Bob Fiack; niece, Whitney; daughter, Peggy and grandson, Chance.
Funeral Services for Theron will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
