He was born January 2, 1926 to Edward LeRoy Jensen and Laura Vernis Mellor of Gunnison, Utah. Waynard was a WWII veteran, serving in the Navy on an ammunition ship, USS Rainier AE5.

Waynard married Patricia Medean Nielson in the Manti Temple on February 11, 1946. He and Patricia were married almost 60 years when Pat passed away in 2005. Together they raised 4 children. Waynard and Pat enjoyed being temple workers for several years, first in the Manti Temple, and later, in the Monticello Temple.

Waynard had several professions beginning with road construction where he helped build roads in southern Utah and Arizona. He also homesteaded in Wyoming, and then started a new career in Uranium refining. Later, he became a notable project manager in the uranium industry which took him to Wyoming, Texas, South Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah.

Waynard loved growing plants and trees, fishing at Dark Canyon, square-dancing, watching Utah Jazz basketball, and entertaining grandchildren with humorous tricks. Waynard is survived by his children, Wayne (Lynette) Jensen, Marlboro, NJ; Sue (Dave) Weierman, Taylorsville, UT; Karma (Mike) Schmidt, Taylorsville, UT; and Laurie (Jeff) Sandall, Elko, NV; and also, his dear wife, Beatrice King Littlewood (married in 2009). He has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family service was held at the Valley View Funeral Home in West Valley City, and Interment was at the Manti City Cemetery.

Our family would like to express great appreciation to the staffs at the Cottage at the Legacy House in Taylorsville and at Inspiration Hospice for the sweet and tireless care that they gave our father in his declining years.
