

Wendy is survived by her five children, Nicole (Mike), Robert (Megan), Jeff (Nicole), Melissa (Dave), and Katie (Nick); twelve grandchildren Jordan, Andrew, Alexa, Will, Abigail, Emmett, Kenzie, Tyler, Brooklyn, Tate, Cece, and Emily; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings Annette, Scott (Allyn) and Kristine (Andy). Wendy was preceded in death by her parents (Samuel and Leota Smith), and sisters (Gaylyn and Sharon).
Wendy Sue Smith was born on September 19, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was raised in Pocatello, Idaho. Upon graduation from Pocatello High School, she attended Brigham Young University. She was married in the Idaho Falls Temple to Robert Nielsen on June 17, 1971, and was married for 34 years.
Wendy was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and valued her membership and testimony. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a good mother and grandmother. If you asked Wendy what her greatest accomplishment in life was, she would tell you that it was her children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren. She is loved by her family and will be missed.
A viewing (10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.), followed by funeral services (11:30 a.m. - 12:30 a.m.), will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the LDS chapel located at 3836 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120. She will be interred immediately following the funeral at Valley View Memorial Park, located at 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, UT 84120.
