My Grandpa went through a lot of difficult times in his life including losing his two children and his wife- he stayed strong though it all. He raised his kids well and his kids raised awesome kids - if you can't tell. 
He had such a goofy fun personality and yes at times he was grumpy-that's for sure, but he always had that goofy side which i will miss the most about him. Growing up, I loved seeing him at family events and birthday parties. I just knew when I walked up to him that there was going to be something funny to say in our conversations and he would also make these goofy faces.  
I will also miss him going to my baseball games-and him loving to attend those.  
Funny thing me and my grandpa would always do at family get togethers was joke and talk about eating all the food- saying that i could take half and he would take the other half. He would always say that there was never enough food-mostly just to tease Ashley and my mom. 
I know that this is a sad day, but it's not forever. We will all meet up with him again one day. i Love you Grandpa and save some food for me up there.

He never looked for praises
He was never one to boast
He just went on quietly working
For the ones he loved the most. 

His dreams were seldom spoken
His wants were very few
And most of the time his worries
Went upspoken too. 

He was there . . . A firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold on to 
in times of stress and strife.

A true friend we could turn to 
When times were good or bad
One of our greatest blessings
The man that we called Dad.

SOMEONE IS MISSING

Let this be a loving reminder
That someone is missing today,
Someone our hearts still hold on to, 
As we travel along life's way.
Someone who made life so special,
For all those who gather here,
Someone who won't be forgotten,
But cherished from year to year.
And now, as we pause to remember, 
Let us all fondly recall, 
How dearly each of us loved him,
And oh, how he loved us all!

Papa,

Probably one of the earliest memories I have of my papa is when he would pick me up after preschool when my parents had to work.  Most of the time my cousin Clayton would be there too.  We would swing on the swing set in the back yard and play with the box of "Happy Meal" toys in the back room with the wooden train set he kept in the closet. 
His sense of humor was the one thing that always stuck out to me the most. No matter the circumstances or what he was going through at the time, he wouldn't fail to crack a joke and make everyone laugh. 
Whenever me and my sister, Cailey, would visit with him, we would be wearing a pair of ripped jeans and every single time he would ask us if we got them half off the price.  
I also remember that when papa had his dog Rocky, we would be having a family get together in his back yard and he would say to Rocky "Get em" and the dog would chase us kids around nipping at our ankles as we screamed and tried to get away.  We would look over once we finally got away and papa would be sitting in his lawn chair and laughing like it was the funniest  thing he'd ever seen. Even though it didn't seem funny to us at the time and we complained to our mom's, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we would do anything to be able to be in that backyard one more time running from that dog in fear and hearing papa laugh.

Papa, oh how you will be missed.  I think back to so many memories, and I will cherish them all.  I'll always remember the times where we would get together in your backyard with all the cousins, and you would barbecue some hamburgers and hotdogs on you weber grill.  Or when everytime I seen you, you would always bring up the Easter Party we had when I was little and how excited I was.  I will never forget your prayers during holiday dinners, they were always so special. Or the many, many jokes that you had.  I remember during family get togethers we would always have a bowl of chips and everytime someone reached for some, you would joke and tell them to get out because those were your chips.  We always made sure to have Diet Pepsi for parties because that's what you like to drink. You would never fail to ask how everyone was even if you didn't feet the greatest, because that's the kind of person you are. You loved your children and your grandchildren deeply. I remember how excited you were to become a Great  Grandpa, and how every time I seen you, you would ask how much longer because you wanted to meet her. I'm so glad the last memory I shared with you was you getting to meet Livvy. I will keep your memory alive and tell her all the great stories about you. Rest easy, until we meet again!

BROKEN CHAIN

We little knew the day that
God was going to call your name.  
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories. 
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you
Your are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.

I love you Papa and I'm going to miss you so much. 
Papa is so funny and one of the best people I know.
One of my best momories Is playing cards with him everytime we went to Alabama together and when I slept over at his house. 
Some other good memories are family holidays, parties and barbecues. 
I loved those shortbread cookies and shrimp salad that he would bring to the Christmas Party every year. I also loved his fresh cranberries that he would bring for Thanksgiving dinner. 
Papa is the one who got me into football and the 49ers.  I loved having the Super Bowl parties, even when are team was not in it.  No Super Bowl will ever be the same without you but I will watch it and think of you.

Sometimes I sit and wonder - 
when I stop and think of you . . . 
If you understood the love I felt;
and if you really knew.

They say that 'real' love needs no words -
and hearts just 'feel' what's true;
But, still I wish I'd told you more . . .
the LOVE I had for you.

Did you really know, dad, how I felt?
Were you certain how I cared?
Did you know how proud I was of you?
. . . . those special years we shared. 

As I sat and wondered softly . . . .
In the stillness of the night -
I slowly drifted off to sleep, 
and a sweet dream came to sight.

You stood there,  dad, in shining joy ;
and quietly, I heard . . . . .
"You showed me every minute, without a single word . . . . .
I know how much you loved me, 
. . . and know I loved you, too.
You gave my life it's 'purpose' . . .
I'll be waiting here. . for you."
