William Lauren White

William Lauren White, 82, of West Valley City, UT, passed on to Heaven on December 28, 2013 due to conditions of his age. Dad was born in Kansas on January 9, 1931 to Dee and Lorene White. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1949. He married his sweetheart, our dear mother, Joanna Louise Cox White, on June 4, 1950. He then entered the Air Force and served for four years. He attended Kansas State University for his degree in Electrical Engineering. Mom and Dad then moved to Salt Lake City so Dad could work for Remington Rand (which was called Unisys at the time of retirement) from 1959 until 1986. In retirement Dad and Mom wintered in Quartzsite, AZ for 24 years. Dad was always there to help when called or knew someone needed his help. He was brilliant with whatever needed fixing. We could always take anything to Dad, TVs, electronics, locks, satellite, remotes, engines, radios, anything and he could find a way to fix it. He would do whatever was needed to help another family, friend, or stranger, out of a stuck situation. Many of our camping trips were stalled to help out a passing motorist(s) that were either stuck or with a flat tire and get them back on their way. Dad couldn’t pass others in need without offering his great help. When we needed help, we always had nice people help us because of dad’s deeds. Dad is survived by his wife, Jo, children, Steve (Cathy) White of West Bloomfield, MI; Kathy (Steve) Guthrie of south Jordan, UT; Kris (Blaine) Carlson of West Valley, UT. Dad is blessed with 8 terrific grandchildren; Shelby White Thompson, Amy White and Allison White of Michigan; Gaven Guthrie and Brody Guthrie of South Jordan, UT; Brandon Carlson, Chad Carlson, and Shannon Carlson Hansen all of Utah. Dad is also very blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Vincent, Claire, Charlie, Landon, and Holden, and two more little Angels on the way. Bill is also survived by his sister, JoAnn White Reasor of Ohio. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother Edna, sister Betty White Austin, brother Donald White, and grandson Joey White.

Services will be held on Thursday January 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at Valley View Chapel, 4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, UT. Friends and family may call at a visitation one hour prior to services on Thursday. Interment Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, UT.
