Doctor Professor ANH HỮU ĐÀO

Thật là một vinh dự cho lớp Y Khoa 1975 được thay mặt cho các anh chị BS và các cựu SVYKSG để vinh danh và cám ơn thầy Đào Hữu Anh trong dịp Bình Dân Hội Ngộ hôm nay.

Trước hết xin được nói qua tiểu sử của thầy:

Thầy học Dự Bị Y Khoa PCB Đại Học Hà Nội 1952. Di cư vào Nam năm 1954 , tiếp tục theo đuổi ngành Y tại ĐHYK Sài Gòn , lên ngoại trú rồi nội trú các bệnh viện.

Thầy trình luận án BSYK năm 1960 , sau 5 năm tu nghiệp tại Mỹ từ 1960-1965, thầy trở về VN làm tại BV Bình Dân rồi tham gia vào ban giảng huấn của trường Y Khoa Đại Học Sài Gòn trong chức vụ Trưởng Khu Cơ Thể Bệnh Lý.

Thầy được giao phó thêm chức Phó Khoa Trưởng ĐHYK Sài Gòn từ năm 1970-1975 và Quyền Khoa Trưởng 1971-1972 , Thầy vừa đóng góp trong việc điều hành trường Y Khoa và việc giáo dục giảng dạy đào tạo nhiều thế hệ Bác Sĩ Y Khoa Việt Nam.

Chúng ta không thể nào quên được hình ảnh một vị thầy trẻ trung , khoan thai trong bộ y phục giản dị quần đậm mầu , áo sơ mi trắng ngắn tay bỏ ngoài quần tay xách chiếc cặp da khoan thai trong khuôn viên của trường Y Khoa Đại Học, Sài Gòn , đó là thầy Đào Hữu Anh.

Trong giờ thự tập tại Khu Cơ Thể Bệnh Lý ,khu giảng đường hay trong sân trường , thầy không ngần ngại trả lời các thắc mắc của SV , thầy cho chúng ta sự tự tin khi đặt câu hỏi và không làm cho chúng ta mất tinh thần.

Sau biến cố tháng 4/1975 , trường cũ đã đổi vắng đi một số thầy và không thấy hình bóng quen thuộc của thầy Phó Khoa Trưởng Đào Hữu Anh trong sân trường. Nhưng bên kia bờ đại dương , thầy lại tiếp tục trách nhiệm của một Vị Giáo Sư , một phó khoa trưởng của một trường YK Đại Học Sài Gòn đã lưu vong. Ngay từ những ngày đầu tị nạn , thầy đã cố tìm một lối đi cho các BS VN có thể trở lại việc học và hành nghề.

Giáo Sư Anh đã cùng Dr. Ira Singer thuộc AMA phối hợp với các Giáo Sư Y Khoa Việt Nam thành lập một Hội Đồng Y Khoa Lưu Vong cấp bằng tốt nghiệp cho các BS Việt Nam trong đó có cả lớp Y Khoa 1975 để chúng ta có thể thi ECFMG, FLEX , đi training và trở lại hành nghề ở nhiều quốc gia trên thế giới.

Nếu không có sự can thiệp của thầy Anh với AMA thì con đường trở lại ngành Y của lớp YK 1975 sẽ rất gian nan , chúng em lớp Y Khoa 1975 không bao giờ quên được công ơn đó.

Thầy cũng còn lo cho các lớp YK tốt nghiệp sau 1975 bằng cách chứng nhận các BS này đã học đủ các môn khoa học căn bản tại ĐHYK Sài Gòn để họ có thể thi National Board part I và xin vào học tiếp tại các trường Đại Học Y Khoa.

Vào những ngày đầu di tản năm 1975 trong cuộc đời lưu vong , thầy đã lưu tâm ngay đến các học trò , làm sao cho các BS VN có thể trở lại ngành Y, Thầy đã phải trả lời hàng trăm lá thư của các BS , SVYK lo lắng thắc mắc làm sao có thể hành nghề.

lại , soạn giấy chứng nhận , giấy giới thiệu ..công việc đòi hỏi nhiều thời gian và tài chánh và thầy đã luôn luôn sốt sắng trả lời cho từng cá nhân và chưa bao giờ hỏi bưu phí. Sự tận tâm của thầy là gương sáng để chúng em noi theo.

Từ khi thầy về định cư ở quân Cam , California , thầy lúc nào cũng vui vẻ tham dư các sinh hoạt của các lớp Y Khoa SG , thầy cô đã không quản ngại đường xa tham dự kỳ họp mặt kỷ niệm 40 năm tốt nghiệp của lớp Y 1975 tại Vancouver hè 2015.

Thật là một thiếu sót khi nói đến thầy mà quên sau lưng sự thành công của một người đàn ông luôn có sự giúp đỡ của một người bạn đồng hành đó là cô Anh , những công việc và sự hy sinh của thầy Anh không thể nào thực hiện được nếu không có sự giúp đỡ , khuyến khích và thông cảm của cô Anh. Mong cô nhận nơi đây sự cám ơn chân thành của chúng em.

Thật may mắn , hạnh phúc cho lớp YK 1975 nói riêng và toàn thể các cựu SVYK đại học Sài Gòn đã có được một vị giáo sư tận tâm đáng quí như Thầy Đào Hữu Anh.

Chúng em xin chúc Thầy Cô nhiều sức khỏe và tiếp tục sinh hoạt với gia đình Y Khoa trong tương lai.

Dear Teachers, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.

It is an honor for the 1975 Medical Class to honor and thank Professor Dao Huu Anh on behalf of the doctors and alumni of the Medical Class on the occasion of the People's Reunion today.

First of all, I would like to talk about his biography:

He was a Pre-Medical Student at PCB University, Hanoi University, 1952.

He emigrated to South Vietnam in 1954, where he continued to pursue medicine at Saigon University of Health, enrolling in outpatient and then inpatient services at the teaching hospitals.

He successfully submitted his thesis in 1960, and, after 5 years of training in the United States from 1960 to 1965, he returned to Vietnam to work at Binh Dan Hospital and then joined the faculty of Saigon University School of Medicine as the Head of the Pathology Department.

He was entrusted with the position of Vice Dean of Saigon University School of Medicine from 1970-1975 and Acting Dean from 1971-1972. He has contributed to the management of the School of Medicine and the education and training of many generations of Vietnamese Medical Doctors.

We can never forget the image of a young, unassuming teacher dressed in simple dark pants with short-sleeved white shirt and carrying a leather briefcase in an easy-going manner on the campus of the University School of Medicine, Saigon, that is Mr. Dao Huu Anh.

During training hours in the Pathological Department, the lecture hall or in the school yard, he does not hesitate to answer students' questions, he gives us confidence when asking questions and does not make us lose our spirits.

After the historical event of April 1975, the old school was devoid of some teachers and we no longer saw the familiar figure of Deputy Dean Dao Huu Anh in the school yard. But on the other side of the ocean, he continued the responsibilities of a professor, an associate dean of a Medical Saigon University in exile. From the early days of his refuge, he tried to find a way for Vietnamese doctors to return to study and practice.

Professor Anh and Dr. Ira Singer of the AMA collaborated with Vietnamese Medical Professors to establish a Medical Council in Exile to grant diplomas to Vietnamese doctors, including the 1975 Medicine class, so that we can take the ECFMG, FLEX exams, go to training and return to practice in many countries around the world.

Without Mr. Anh's intervention with AMA, the road back to Medicine of the 1975 Medical class would have been very arduous; we in the 1975 Medical Class will never forget that generous gift. He also took care of the YK classes graduating after 1975 by certifying that these doctors had studied enough basic science subjects at Saigon University of Science so that they could take the National Board Part I exam and apply for admission to medical universities.

In the early days of the evacuation in 1975 during his life in exile, he immediately paid attention to his students, how could Vietnamese doctors return to the medical field, he had to answer hundreds of letters from doctors and medical students who were worried about how they could practice medicine again, also to compose attestations, certificates, and letters of recommendation. The work required a lot of time and finance and he was always enthusiastic about answering individually and never asking for the cost of supplies and postage.

His dedication is a shining example for us to follow.

Since he settled in Orange County, California in 1998, he has always been happy to participate in the activities of Saigon Medicine classes, and he did not hesitate to travel long distances to attend the 40th anniversary reunion of the 1975 Medical class in Vancouver in the summer of 2015.

It would be a grievous omission to talk about Professor Anh without recognizing the fact that, behind the success of a man there is always the help of a companion, Ms. Anh. The generous work and sacrifices of Mr. Anh cannot be done without help, without Ms. Anh's encouragement and understanding. We hope that you will accept our sincere gratitude here.

Fortunately and joyfully for the class of Medicine 1975 in particular and for all former students of Saigon Medical University in general, we have a dedicated and valuable professor like Mr. Dao Huu Anh.

We would like to wish you good health and continue to live with the medical family in the future.
