Betty Valltos, beloved sister, partner, and friend, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Orange, California, at the age of 71. She was born on November 24, 1953, in Silver Springs, Maryland, and will be remembered most for her intelligence, strength, and dedication to others.
Betty earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and her Master’s in Education from Boston University. Throughout her life, she built a long and meaningful career in both education and sales. Over 35 years, she served as a teacher and school administrator, later working in sales for two decades. Her professional life reflected the same qualities that defined her personally: hardworking, reliable, and patient. Her official occupation will be listed as educator — a title that captures her passion for learning and guiding others.
Betty met her life partner, Jeffrey S. Whiting, at a bar in Newport Beach, California. Their bond was strong and enduring, filled with shared moments and quiet companionship.
She had a deep love for reading, rock music, and time spent by the beach. To those who knew her, she was beautiful — both in presence and in spirit.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Voula and Angelo Valltos. She is survived by her sister, Maria Turner; her partner, Jeff Whiting; and her three nieces — Danielle, Kristin, and Katherine — who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carolina Chapel at Westminster Memorial Park. A graveside service will follow in the Garden of Meditation at Westminster Memorial Park.
