There are so few people you meet in life like Brenda. So smart and so accomplished. She was never less than totally genuine.   It was a privilege to work with her. I know she loved her family dearly. So many lives were made better by her presence. Mine was. She will be missed by many.

Sending huge amounts of love and support and prayers to you Don and Carissa and all of your family. This seems so surreal. There was only one Brenda in this world and no one will ever come close to the legacy she has left.  Thank you Brenda.

I personally cannot thank you enough for her silly humor and positivity and friendship over the past 15 years. Our friendship was never pressured to be constantly in touch and we could always pick up right where we left off effortlessly. Those high school days were tumultuous sometimes for all of us, but the undying support Brenda always provided Carissa and my daughter was unwavering.  She was like a second mom and I hope I was the same. Thank you Brenda

Even with my youngest daughter, Brenda was always there for her to answer questions and provide support as she pursued her BSN RN. Those words of advice and encouragement will last her a lifetime. Thank you Brenda.

I will miss the Tesoro and Coto days forever, but the memories are here to stay. I certainly won't forget the Coachella visits to the desert.  But mostly I won't forget that dang bird Carl and how she would force me to have him on my shoulder and talk to him and feed him when I didn't want to. Thank you Brenda.

Our silly and caring friend and nurse is gone way too early.  She meant the world to so many people.  She must have been called upon now in order to go and do much bigger things and for that we are all so proud. Thank you Brenda.

I’ll never forget the strong presence Brenda brought to our unit. She was such an amazing nurse, influential mentor and great friend to me. We always new if Brenda was working things would be ok. She also had a great sense of humor and could make you laugh til you peed your pants. Her laugh was infectious. I’ll never forget it. 

Brenda always knew how to put things into perspective and not to get held up on the little things. She was no nonsense and I loved that about her. She had wisdom beyond her years and helped me through some difficult times in my own life and cheered me on when I found joy again. I will miss her dearly and I send my most sincere condolences to her family and friends.

My sincerest and deepest condolences for your loss. Brenda was such an amazing, powerful, and caring woman. I will always forever be so grateful for her telling Carissa to "go make friends with the sad crying girl." Brenda always knew how to make people feel included and she instilled that in each of her kids. The sense of community, friendship, and love were values that she taught us all. To top it all off the whole gentle guided greeting gave me the very best friend and whole family. 

Another memory I remember like it was yesterday involved a ride in the back of Brenda's car with Carissa. I think we were on our way to Wango Tango or something of that sort. The sky light was open which I thought was the coolest thing  and our balloon had just flown out. Carissa and I were being a little louder than what was acceptable in the back when Brenda pulled out a looooong wooden spoon; just long enough to give a gentle threaten that we better quiet down. From then on, the rest of the car rides for the foreseeable future were very well mannered and so quiet you could hear a mouse squeak. Iv'e been the best passenger in a vehicle ever since! 

These are just to name a few of so many memories and so many lessons she's taught me along her journey of life. I am so grateful for her and for your family. The Cuellar's sure know how to hold a presence in a room and how to fill it with so much love and light. With so much love for you all, Sabrina Pimentel <3

Will miss the happy times we shared. Zach’s graduation was one of those times.  Brenda is in a better place but still hurts and saddens me. Love you always.

Lola B came to visit a couple of weeks after we got discharged from the hospital to see how we are doing. She brought some good food and warm snuggle.

Brenda brought so much joy into our lives.  We so enjoyed our times together;  so much laughter, great experiences and knowing our get-togethers were always very special.  Don and Brenda were such a great couple, always showing their boundless love and care for each other and their families.  We were so fortunate to be part of the "traveling foursome" where we had so many outstanding travel adventures.  From New York to Cuba to San Francisco to New Orleans and so many trips to Mexico through the years.  Brenda was a great travel partner, great fun, and always ready for the next adventure.  Our last trip together was especially meaningful when we cruised the Mediterranean.  We will remember these special moments with Brenda forever.  
Brenda was also a great caregiver for her family, first and foremost, and for the thousands of expectant mothers she cared for throughout her amazing and outstanding career.  She was a remarkable person who greatly impacted our lives by showing us how to enjoy life, be the best we can be and to care for each other.  She left us too soon, but we are so thankful for the time we had together.
God bless you, Brenda.  Rest in peace and know you are loved and will never be forgotten.

I met Brenda in 1990 at my first RN job on a medical surgical unit.  She was my preceptor.  I never understood why I could never find her….one day I finally asked her about it, and she confessed that she hid from me because I asked too many questions!! In spite of that,  we became fast friends.   In 1991 we both left together to train in Labor and Delivery.  Over the years, Brenda  stuck with me thru thick and thin.  I love her family like they are my own.  Brenda brought so much joy, love,  and laughter into my life. Truly, a huge loss to all who knew her.

Brenda was like everyone’s second mom. She truly cared for everyone in her and her families lives with the same pure and loving heart. I will always remember drinking wine with her and Don and talking all night about life, music, and her favorite memories of her children. Brenda, you leave behind a legacy that is unmatched. You were taken far too soon but your impact you’ve had on others will last forever. God bless you and your beautiful family.

I cannot thank my Tia enough for the impact she has had on my life. I remember dreading going to her house on Christmas because she would force us to sing Karaoke before we could open our gifts; now those memories are some of my most cherished. She was a constant pillar of support in my life,  and her generosity has made a lasting impact. I thought she was joking, when she offered my wife and I her timeshare for our honeymoon, but she was dead serious. Not only did she cover the expense of the room, but she also paid for an all-inclusive package. To date, that trip is one of the best I've been on and I have my Tia to thank.  Her love was always felt by me, my wife, and my son.

Thank you Tia for always being there, having you in my life was truly a blessing. Say hi to my Pops, Dude, and Papi for me. I miss you all so much.

Thank you for being my biggest supporter - even when it meant you would have to drive me after you had just worked a 12-hour night shift. Thank you for always doing whatever it took to guarantee Zach and I accomplished what we set our minds to. Thank you for going on the rollercoasters with us and helping with homework. You did it all. Thank you doesn’t feel sufficient for all that you did. It’s impossible to not feel the weight of your loss in everything I do, but I promise to transmute my pain into power, love, hard-work and fellowship… just as you raised me to do. I’m empowered by your legacy and just so relieved you’re reunited with Papi and your brothers. I know there’s a massive party happening with you all in Heaven. Enjoy it. You earned it. Mission complete.  I love you Mama.

Thirty-three years ago, my sister-in-law Brenda welcomed me into the Cuellar family with open arms.  She showered her nephews with love and never failed to ask me every year what the boys wanted for Christmas.  My oldest son Robert, looked forward to his new pair of Vans slip ons every year.  When my grandsons were born, she was excited to be a grand Tia.  We joked about not having many girls in the family.  She wanted my youngest son Aaron to be a girl, but once again, another boy was born.  Still, that didn't stop her from buying Aaron a doll and stroller.

Brenda, I am going to miss you dearly but I am at peace knowing that you are reunited with your father and brothers.  Please give your brother Robert an extra long hug on behalf of his wife and sons.

I will forever remember our times working at JFK laughing, stressing, crying and sharing all our life events.  You were such an asset to our unit. I remember the first few times we worked together and thinking who is this lady? And then saying oh she’s a bad ass and I love her!! Your wisdom and stories I will forever cherish.  I still take your advice with me and pass it on to my friends and loved ones. You were right Brenda! There is no “perfect man” out there, just the perfect one for me. Thank you amiga for all you gave to me. And especially for your friendship. I will miss you.
