

Doris Thomas, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2017 at her home in Anaheim. A visitation is planned for Doris on Thursday, October 19, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683. Services will begin on Friday, October 20, at 2:30 p.m. in the Main Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. to which everyone is invited. Immediately following the graveside service, all family, friends, and guests are invited to a reception at Lloyd's residence in West Anaheim. Of the nine children born to Raymond and Pauline Welch, Doris was the second child and first daughter born in Trenton, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by parents Raymond and Pauline Welch, brother Lloyd Welch and sisters, Fronnie Welch, Juanita (Bunky) Olsen, Janice Sanchez, and daughter Joannie Welch. She is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Lloyd Thomas, daughter Keri (Norm) Rutkowski, step-son Walter (Linda)Thomas, step-daughter Barbara (Danny) Johnson, brothers Paul Welch, Harry (Patty) Welch, James (Pam) Welch, and Sam (Toni) Welch, eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a multitude of extended family and friends.
Doris was co-owner, along with Lloyd, of the Westminster Herald Newspaper for over four decades. She began as the linotype setter in 1969 and was the newspaper's photographer at countless community events. For numerous years Doris was an enthusiastic community servant through the Westminster Kiwanis Club, and a member of Springdale Baptist Church in Westminster.
Doris was a true giver of her time whenever, and wherever, she was. She was an intuitive and hard worker always preferring to be behind the scenes. Her selfless efforts made whatever the project, or event, a resounding success.
