Elvira “Vera” Lara Rosales was born on May 6, 1932, in Los Angeles, Ca to her Parents Richard and Ernestina Lara. Vera passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, in Los Alamitos, Ca at the age of 92 surrounded by the love of her immediate family. Vera preceded in death by her son Rueben Rosales in 2005 and Husband Rudy Rosales Sr. on February 9, 2007. Vera and Rudy were married for 57 years before his passing. She is survived by her children Rudy Rosales Jr and Violet Rosales. Along with her 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Her family later moved to El Monte where she resided for many years, then moved to Anaheim where many roots were set in La Colonia. After meeting her husband Rudy, they lived in Stanton for a short period of time. In 1956 Rudy and Vera Rosales set a foundation and purchased their first home on Danny Avenue in Cypress. 24 years later they purchased a second property in Hemet where they lived for 27 years and sold that property when Rudy passed away. Vera returned to her home in Cypress where she lived until her passing. The Hemet and Cypress houses were the foundation and roots to our family dynamics where many memories were built. From the family reunions, holidays, birthdays, weddings, baby showers, baptisms and many more celebrations. The Rosales family has endless memories on the hill of Hemet, to the ones in the infamous back yard and garage of the Cypress house.
Vera worked as a butcher for the union and later retired from Lucky’s Distribution Center. In her younger years she loved to go dancing with her husband and their friends at the dance halls around town. She loved to garden and always made sure her properties were well manicured, everyone always admired that about her. She liked to read and had the patients to figure things out, she was the go-to person to have her read manual and tell us how to put things together or how to operate something. Vera had a passion for sewing and knitting making clothes and blankets for her loved ones. She had a love and art for making tortillas for the family along with some good ol homemade menudo. Many would go to her for advice, and she was always willing to give it or just simply listen. She was a strong and stern woman, and always held her ground and stuck to the plan even if people didn’t like the plan. Everyone that she met over the years respectfully always called her grandma, she welcomed all with open arms and always took the time to personally get to know everyone.
Vera Rosales is leaving a legacy behind and many words of wisdom, some of her infamous sayings were “Do it again” “I had no choice to be strong for myself and live life the best that I could and the rest will follow suit” “Don’t hold grudges and anger towards anyone, that only affects you and not the other person” “Do what is in your heart” “Always know your needs versus wants so you don’t live beyond your means”. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family and everyone she has impacted over the years.
On behalf of the Rosales family, we thank you for your love, support, messages, calls, texts, flowers, food and the endless prayers and words of comfort during this difficult time.
