

Jaunell Lauvonne "Rickie" Layman peacefully passed away at her home in Seal Beach, surrounded by family, on February 23, 2024. She was 89 years of age.
Rickie was born to Amon and Celia Herring while living on a farm in Lookeba, OK. Her family later moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
It was in Stillwater, OK, that she met the love of her life, George G. Layman while he was attending college. After graduation, while enroute to Fort Benning, the two got married in Noel, MO, on July 12, 1952. They were happily married for 71 years.
Rickie loved being involved in the community. She participated in the Military Officers Wives Clubs while at Fort Mac Arthur, California. In Seal Beach, California she was active in the Lions Club, Republican Women's Club, and other charitable organizations.
She was a refined woman of class, strength, and beauty. She was a friend to all and always put her family and others before herself. Rickie always stood up for what was right and worked tirelessly for the causes she believed in. Those who knew her will miss her dearly and will always be grateful for the endless love and memories she gave to us. We know she is in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Rickie is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, George G. Layman, son Danny Gene Layman, granddaughter Rebecca Louise Lee, and great granddaughter, Ella Lee. She was predeceased by her son Kenneth Gene Laymen, and daughter Sandra Louise Layman.
A visitation for Jaunell will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683. A funeral service will occur the following day, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary followed by burial at Westminster Memorial Park.
