Margaret Murillo, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, entered into eternal life on August 28, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on October 1, 1930. She was a longtime resident of Westminster, California.
Margaret was blessed to come from a large family of seven sisters and three brothers. She was predeceased by her loving parents and all of her siblings. Throughout her life, she had many close friends, including some dating back to her youth. She would often say her lifetime friends were like family to her.
Margaret met the love of her life, Rudy Murillo, at a dance. They subsequently married and began building a life together. They raised three children, Mario, Eric, and Martha. Their marriage would last nearly 64 years. She was “Gramma” to four beloved grandsons, Roy, Aaron, Caleb, and Christopher. And she was “Mom” to her dear daughter-in-law, “Lisa.” Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband in 2015.
Working in retail for the Robinson-May store in Westminster was one of Margaret’s favorite places of employment. She enjoyed helping the customers and working with all of her coworker friends. She also attended adult education classes in floral design. Upon completing the program, she was hired by Mable’s Flowers in Westminster, where she put her learned skills and creative talent to work by helping to create beautiful flower arrangements. She loved flowers of all kinds and working in a flower shop was a dream come true for her.
Margaret also loved listening to music. She had a large collection of record albums. Some of her favorite vocalists were Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and Eydie Gorme’s great love songs in Spanish. She also loved the Big Bands of Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, and so many more. Her home was often filled with music.
Through the years, Margaret would love and care for several precious pets. Some of them were stray cats looking for a home, but one in particular, an orange longhair kitten she adopted named Barney, completely stole her heart away from day one. And when a little yellow green parakeet landed on her doorstep and wouldn’t leave, she couldn’t say no and welcomed him also into her home. She leaves behind her most recent beloved cat Jackie, who is missing her.
Margaret is remembered for her kind heart and her warm loving affection for family, friends, and pets. She was a woman of faith having been raised in the Catholic Church and deeply believed in the plan of salvation through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Having known the power of prayer in her life, she would often remind her loved ones to “pray, pray, pray.” She would say, “you pray for me and I’ll pray for you.”
God graced our family with such a precious and loving mother. She is dearly missed. Her memory will always be cherished and honored.
