Mariano Vincent Barela, of Garden Grove, California died peacefully at home Saturday, afternoon, June 24, 2023. He was 78 years old and born on August 4, 1944, in Westminster, California and went by the nickname Leo.
Mariano “Leo” graduated from Westminster High School in 1963, where he played all four years of HS baseball. He worked as a butcher for over 4 decades at Alpha Beta and Market Basket Grocery Stores. He is survived by his children, Sam Anthony Barela; Elaine Barela Lizaola; grandchildren, Amber Angel Barela; Sammy Anthony Barela; Joseph David Barela; Brianna Justine Lizaola and Rene Giovanni Lizaola. Great grandchildren Justin Gaxiola; Alissa Gaxiola; Natali Barela; Laila Barela and Selah Watson and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 at 2:30 PM, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683. An interment will occur Friday, July 14, 2023, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683.
