Ray was born on October 29, 1921 in Winters, Texas. He worked very hard farming and helping his family. In November of 1946 he and Charlene were married and then moved to California. Ray worked for most of his life, and would have worked even longer if he could have. Ray farmed for many years and dug irrigation ditches. He found his place in working for many years as a custodian and retired from the school district in 1985. His love of his work kept him going, and even after retirement he continued working part time as a custodian. He was a devoted family man and thought always of others before himself. He loved cars, and would talk for hours about old cars or anything related to farming.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Belo and Don Evans. He is survived by his wife Charlene, brother Ernest, four children: Bonnie, James, Pat, and Wes, as well as 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
