Robert Gene Francis

Newport Beach, California, resident Robert G. Francis (Bob), president and owner of Commercial Custom Seating in Garden Grove, California, passed away Friday, 2 July 2021 at Hoag Hospital. He was 73 years old.

Francis was born 9 September 1947 on Parris Island, South Carolina. Eventually his family moved out west where his father,George Francis, a Baatan Death March survivor, started a full range commercial custom seating and upholstery business to the restaurant and hospitality industries in the mid-1970s.

Bob Francis eventually took over running the business, and today the company thrives with 90-150 employees.

Bob Francis kept active outside of work—dancing, fishing, golfing, traveling, and he was an avid reader and gun aficionado. His friends remember him fondly as always supportive, kind, and always fair.

He is survived by his long-time companion Kay Kohara, his daughter Justine Francis, and five grandchildren: Ethan Francis, 25; Ashley Wyatt, 21; Dylon Merrill, 17; Levi Snyder, 15, and Naomi Snyder, 13. He also is survived by his two younger brothers Karl and Burton

Francis will be interned with his son Jason Francis (who died in 2004) at Westminster Cemetery in Westminster, California No memorial service will be held.
