Rosemary S. Itrich, age 96, died on Thursday, April 27th, 2023 in her treasured home of 68 years. From her birth in Los Angeles, on April 4th, 1927 to her death, she was a matriarch of five generations. She was born to Walter Melvin Moline and Ellen Christine Johnson and was the oldest of two children. Since she was a little girl, she was always an avid reader and dancer. She spent many nights in Los Angeles dancing with friends in her youth, as well as working simultaneously since she was 13. At the age of 21, she married Paul Stanslow and started a family within 5 years. She had two children, a girl and boy, Paula and Gary Stanslow.
Once Rosemary and her family moved to Garden Grove, she became very active in the community. She was involved in the Women’s Club of Garden Grove and Beta Sigma Phi for over 60 years, including being president of these groups. She was also active in advocating for and gaining union’s rights at the Department of Education, where she worked for nearly 30 years.
After her first husband, Paul, passed in 1980, Rosemary married Edwin (Ed) Itrich and spent over 20 years married. They spent a lot of time traveling and doting on each of their grandkids. Rosemary remained cheerful, active and outgoing throughout her life, despite the deep losses she went through. Left to celebrate her life and remember her love is her daughter, Paula Marn; four grandchildren: Christine Early, Dale Stanslow, Tony Stanslow, and Luca Stanslow; two great-grandchildren: Dominique Lopez and Pearse Early Jr.; and with so much pride and joy, two great-great-grandchildren: Ethan and Julian Lopez. Rosemary is remembered for her quick wit, maternal warmth, and unwavering strength. She continued to do her daily crossword and read until the very end, always exercising her brain. Despite her physical absence, she will remain a bright and shining light to her family and a source of resilience in trying times.
