December 10, 1938 - September 24, 2021
Shirley was born in 1938 in Compton, California, and met her sweetheart Norman Nankervis while attending San Pedro High School. Shirley and Norman were married for 51 years until the passing of Norm.
Shirley was a highly skilled roller skater in high school and could skate backwards. She enjoyed her weekly Wednesday night outings of Top’s weight watchers with her long-time neighbor and friend Mae Brown.
She was a devoted greeter for many years at the Eagle’s Nest Christian Fellowship. Norm was an usher as well, and they frequently attended with their close friend Bruce Walker. Shirley also enjoyed Joel Osteen and Pat Robertson.
She was a faith-based, compassionate, and generous woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed the occasional game of Scrabble as a skilled player. She appreciated her outings to restaurants and being with her family. Shirley and Norm loved to vacation in Yosemite with family. Shirley always prayed for her family and shared with everyone how proud she was of their accomplishments. Norm and Shirley generously welcomed anyone in the family that was in need to live with them.
Shirley adored her family and friends, and she will be sorely missed.

Mom,
You were a special mother and will always be in our hearts,
To our Lord and precious Dad did you have to depart
You are now with him and you were his wife for 51 years
This we are glad, it helps us to stem our tears
Each member of our family you cared for and showed us your love
Each of your prayers for us came over us like a protective glove
As a grandmother you were the best
We send our love as you now you have rest
We are happy you are in heaven, a special place
We await until we can see you again, and give you a warm embrace
