

Steven Yukio Matsumoto, 66, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on March 2, 2017. A Graveside Service and Military Honors are scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Westminster Memorial Park 14801 Beach Blvd. Westminster, CA 92683
He was born and raised in East Los Angeles, the son of Hifumi
and Gloria Matsumoto, and grew up with 3 brothers: Herbie,
George and Brian.
In his early years, Steve studied martial arts, karate and judo.
He also played football and was on the track team of his high school.
He graduated from Belmont High in 1968. After graduating,
Steve went into the Army. Once he was out of the service he had
3 children, Deanne, Joey (who sadly passed in infancy) and Stacy.
He met his wife, Jacki, in a bowling league at Westbrook Bowl in
1985 and they were married in November 1990 at Calvary Chapel
in Costa Mesa. Together they had 2 daughters, Valerie and Michelle.
Steve worked and eventually retired from the City of Long Beach as an
auto mechanic for the North Division police department after 20+ years.
He and his family relocated to Las Vegas, NV in 2011 after retiring.
He was an avid bowler, an original LA Rams fan and fisherman.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching movies and sports.
Steve always told his family that he loved his P&Q (peace and quiet)
however he rarely ever got it with a home filled with 2 dogs, 2 birds and a rabbit.
Steve taught and coached each of his kids how to bowl and fish.
He was an extremely loving and caring husband and father who went
way over and beyond his duty to provide and care for his family.
His generous heart and easy going nature will be dearly missed by
all who knew and loved him.
