October 27, 1930 - December 14, 2025
CWO4 Vicente “Vince” Agor, an accomplished, gregarious, and talented husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many, died peacefully on December 14, 2025 at the VA Hospital, in Long
Beach, California. He was 95.
He lived his colorful, full life in service to his family, his country, and his community.
Vince was born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines on Monday, October 27, 1930, to Leon Balizado Agor and Antonia Baleva Agor. He was the older brother to Bernardino, Archangel, Adriano, Eustaquio, and Florentino.
He graduated from university with a B.S. in Engineering and was recruited by the U.S. Coast Guard in 1955. He married Virginia “Jeanne” Beltran Agor in 1958, and soon after moved to the United
States, settling in the Los Angeles area.
Their first daughter, Eileen, was born in 1958, their son, Vicente Jr. in 1962, and their daughter Jeanne Rose in 1966, all in California. Their children were the joys of Vicente and Jeanne’s world. They moved around quite a bit because of Vince’s military service, and there were several cross-country trips in their Chevy Malibu. Since all three children were young, Vince built a bench that covered the car floor space so the three could lay down and sleep during the long drives. Those trips include small forgotten “tennie” shoes at rest stops, visiting cousins in Ohio, walking on Fifth Avenue in New York City while Vince carried Jeanne Rose on his shoulders, and Jeanne feeding Vince rice while he drove to get the maximum mileage out of each day.
In 1968, he proudly became a United States citizen. In 1969, he became the first Filipino American to achieve the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and ultimately rose to the rank of CWO4. His tours of duty included Vietnam on the USCGC Rush, and both the North Pole and the South Pole, on the USCGC Icebreaker Glacier.
After proudly serving in the Coast Guard for thirty years, he retired. His civilian life was filled with adventure and meaningful projects. He found his second career as a Surveyor with the County of Orange, working there for ten years.
After his retirement from the County of Orange, his life experience gave him the self-confidence and leadership skills that allowed him to continue his service to the community.
The many milestones of his well-lived life include his election as Senior Assembly Member of the California Senior Legislature (CSL), Sacramento, California, representing the Orange County Senior Advisory Council for fourteen years. In that role, he created and authored a federal resolution signed by the California governor, to increase the budget on senior services and health programs. Continuing his work with the senior community, the City of Westminster appointed him Chairman Commissioner of the Aging and Senior Foundation.
Vince remained proud of his military service, and was dedicated to recognizing and finding community with other veterans. He served as the Post Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 9756
(2003) and as the Second Vice Commander of the American Legion, Post 555 (2000). He was also a life member of military organizations such as the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He also worked for fourteen years as a Precinct Coordinator for the Orange County Voter and Registration Department.
Mr. Agor’s dedication to service resulted in the 2000-2001 Citizen of the Year, Finalist award from the City of Westminster and the local Chamber of Commerce. And in 2022, at the age of 92, the United States Congress honored him with the Seniors of Distinction Award.
Two weeks before passing away, he won yet another award. He “ran” in the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) 5k race and the photo of him finishing the race, flanked by his grandsons was awarded Best Finish Line Photo. A winner to the very end.
Vince and Jeanne traveled the world during their retirement years. They visited all seven continents and told stories of their adventures along the Nile, exploring countries in Europe, China, the Philippines, New Zealand, Antarctica, and so many more. Their travel photo albums are filled with photos of Vince smiling and waving, wearing a native costume hat while wearing his signature Ray Bans.
He is survived by his son, Vicente Jr and husband Michael; his daughter, Jeanne Carreon and husband Phil; and his three grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob and wife Kylie, and Phoebe; his sister, Archangel; brother Eustaquio; and many other cherished friends and relatives.
Vince was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years in 2023, Jeanne; his eldest daughter Eileen; parents, Leon Balizado Agor and Antonia Baleva Agor; brothers Bernardino, Adriano, and Florentino; and other beloved friends and relatives.
Vince leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, service, and love and will be forever remembered.
Services for Vince will be held on January 3, 2026, at 12pm at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683.
