André, better known by Andrew, was born on July 26, 1932 to Paul and Francoise Vigoureux at his uncle, Jean-Claude Porte's home on the SW 24-4-19 in Ceylon RM. He was raised on his parents' farm near Gladmar and attended North Gladmar School. After his schooling he stayed on the farm to help his parents and he also worked part time for the neighbours. André acquired a quarter of land in the fifties and purchased more cultivated land and lease land in the sixties. Then in 1981 he took over the family farm. Along with farming the land he enjoyed raising his herd of Herford cattle. He spent many hours in his shop working with his metal lathe, André was always building something. He became a municipal councillor for the RM of Surprise Valley for division 4 from 1982 to 1987. He joined the Minton Elks in the early 1970's. He liked to bowl and belonged to St. Eugene's Catholic Church in Minton. When summer season came he'd go camping with his motor home. André always helped out his neighbours and enjoyed many visits with them. On June 17, 1989 he married Marquerite Ryan of Plentywood, Montana at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they enjoyed several years on the farm and also had a home in Plentywood where they spend much time. In 2003 after André suffered a stroke they sold the farm and their Plentywood home and retired to Weyburn. Marquerite became ill with Leukemia in the fall of 2013 and on March 16, 2014 passed away. A short time later André suffered a fall breaking his hip. Needing extra assistance he moved to Crocus Plains Villa and later to Hill Top Manor until his passing. André passed away in his sleep August 9, 2016 at the age of 84.
