May “Ruby” Rose was born on August 30, 1925 to Reg and Eva Taylor at home on their farm. She was a sister to Basil and Reg and later to Art and Vivian. Ruby went to school at Adell School and completed her Grade 10.
Ruby married Jim Gosling in the house she was born in, in 1945. Together they raised a family of four children. Family was very important to Ruby.
In 1939, Ruby joined the Adell Ladies Ball team. She played for 20 years. She did love to play ball but in later years, she also curled, sketched and even dabbled in sculpture.
Ruby loved nature; from the large garden and beautiful flowers she always grew to just sitting outside listening to the birds sing.
She was a member of the Ogema Agricultural Society for over 40 years and was also on the Drop in Centre board. She always volunteered where needed. She was part of the group called the Glasnevin Icicle’s. That was always great fun.
Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Jim; parents, Reg and Eva Taylor; brothers, Basil (Dorothy), Reg and Art and by her great granddaughter, Cassidy Gosling.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Art (Avis) Gosling of Melville, SK, Diane (Wayne) Hirkala of Saskatoon, SK, Melody (Ross) David of Ogema, SK and Cindy (Trevor) Robinson of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Clinton Gosling, Vincent (Janice) Gosling, Michael (Rebecca) Gosling, Lyle Hirkala, Naomi (Darrell) Hubert, Cris (Danielle) Hirkala, Chelsea Gosling, Lisa (Cory) Lang, Michelle (Charles) Moore, Ryan (Janelle) David, Jeremy Robinson and Mathew (Melanie) Robinson; sister, Vivian (Jack) Natyshak; sisters in law, Ruth Taylor and Grace Taylor as well as 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Graveside Service & Interment for Ruby was held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Ogema Cemetery, Ogema, Saskatchewan with Reverend Ella Frank officiating. Lunch and Fellowship followed at the Ogema Museum Hall at 2:00 p.m.
