Alyssa Norris Phillips was born on May 4, 1979 at 5:11 AM to Randy Norris and Jan Martin Norris. She was 6 lbs. 1 oz. and 19 inches and born bright eyed and full of energy. Sleep was not in her agenda, as she was keenly interested in the world. From the moment she could walk, she stood on her toes and asked "So why?" to every imaginable question. Even at five years of age, she was fiercely independent and focused on how her life would be scripted. She grew into a beautiful, intelligent, gracious young woman who loved life, music and pursued adventure, language, living abroad, travel, relationships. Alyssa had a real gift for helping others with difficult situations and somehow making them all seem effortless.
Married to Cameron Phillips, her college sweetheart in June 2006; a match made in heaven! As true soul mates, they uplifted each other and rejoiced in each other's victories until her life was challenged by alcohol dependency and depression. Unfortunately, her remaining years denied her the life she so deserved. She was surrounded by family, friends and wonderful spiritual support as she courageously faced this disease. Even with a village of support, love for her and respect for the gift she bestowed, she was overwhelmed by the demands of the illness and grief for the child she carried and lost; choosing to step out of this life into God's arms. On August 29, 2013, she was reunited with the loved ones already with the Lord. Her final note asked for understanding and forgiveness for her wish to be returned to peace.
Alyssa was an incredible gift to this world and we thank God for allowing us to have her for more than 34 years. May God Bless Her…
