He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Victoria Arellano, and a brother, Jesse Benevidez.
Angelo spent most of his younger days in his west side neighborhood, having fun with his brother and cousins hanging around downtown. This is when he met a young girl who would later become his wife, Joann. At the young age of 9 Angelo had a crush, he would pull Joann’s hair and chase her up to her grandma’s door. Unfortunately the two lost contact. In the years following Angelo spent his days with his best friends Steve, Randy, Martin and Richard, the Brew Crew making memories that they would never forget. He cherished his younger days traveling back to pueblo to spend time with his family by the creek, he had so many stories that he loved to tell. His favorite pastime was going to concerts, he went to so many concerts; his favorite were Rock n’ Roll concerts, like Metallica, Queensryche, Ozzy, Iron Maiden etc.. He loved attending concerts with his wife, cousins, and best friends. His first Airplane ride was only two years ago, He was able to experience San Diego twice with his family for thanksgiving. He had the best time, and Las Vegas where he got on the Big Shot Rollercoaster on top of the Stratosphere. He was such a fun and adventurous man.
In December of 1985 he welcomed his first son Angelo Jr. and later welcomed Aaron in 1987. In 1989 he reconnected with Joann while they were working together at King Soopers. The two would fall in love. With Angelo’s two sons and Joann’s two daughters, Yolanda and Angelic they were a large family right from the start. The two loved and raised their blended family for 7 years, when they welcomed their son, Eric in 1996. Angelo and Joann had a love like no other. Spending a wonderful 29 years together. Angelo was an amazing dad who loved his kids. He made sure to attend every school and sporting event. He was always front row cheering them on. He cared for his family and did above and beyond to make sure they were taken care of.
In the midst of raising his large family, Angelo went to paramedic school, obtained his CNA certificate. He received many awards for his amazing work. One of his most memorable experience came from when he saved a young girls life while on break at Denver Health. Angelo left his job at the hospital to work in the nursing homes. That was his true calling. He found peace working with the elderly. He took such pride in being a CNA. Angelo was such a selfless man, he did everything he could to help others around him. He was a free spirit, he would say “this is who I am” and he didn’t care what anyone said or thought about him. He said what he wanted to say and did things his way. Everyone really loved that about him. His no B.S attitude was something we would always laugh about with him and something that we cherished.
In Closing, it is too difficult to summarize the life of Angelo Arellano, the amount of memories we all share with him are enough to fill a whole book. Even if you only met him one time, you would always remember his smile, his politeness, his kindness, his love and his spirit. As long as we keep those memories alive in our hearts, he will always be with us. So let us remember the laughs and the good times. That is what he wants. Until we all meet again, we love you so much Angelo, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Cousin, Best Friend.
