I was always very touched by the sweetness and kindness of both Ben and Thelma--rock-solid citizens, lovingly devoted to their family. Kimberley, you were so blessed to have a dad like him, and it was a blessing for us to be your neighbors for nine memorable years. Much love to you and your family. 

Uncle Ben will be greatly missed by our family. My prayers go out to everyone during this difficult time. He forever changed my life when he introduced Cora Barela to my Father! Everyone welcomed our family when they married and I will always be thankful for this. His smile and laugh will be missed.

Ben worked with my Dad Jim Barela and Thelma and Ben introduced Thelma's cousin Cora to my Father. She became our stepmother helping to raise my siblings and became Mother to 8 children after our own Mother passed away. We are forever thankful to Ben and Thelma for bringing them together. I hope my Dad Jim and my stepmother Cora were at the gates of Heaven to welcome Ben. Rest in peace Ben and watch over all your family to keep them all safe.

To Aunt Thelma and my cousins. We feel and understand your loss as you know dad passed 9 months ago. Uncle Benny was a very special person to me, especially as a kid and a young man. He was one of my heroes as I was growing up and will always keep that special part in my life. Long ago our families came to what is now known as the "San Luis Valley". In 1598 we were bringing our families to New Spain to farm and raise cattle. I have met you before Dad. This explains our passion and respect for one another. You will always remain the light, promise and respect of the Rodriguez name. It was an honor to have known you for such a little time but please know, I thank you for giving me your blessing's for marrying your baby girl "Kimberley". 
I lost you as a Father-n-Law but gained a great family that you helped build. I promised you then Dad like I will promise you now, I will take care of your "baby girl", Jackson and Mom.

My sweet Daddy,

They say time heals all wounds... I just can't imagine my heart will ever heal from you not being just a phone call or a 30 minute drive away to hug and kiss you.  I will miss your face, voice, smile, hugs, kisses, advice, jokes and stories!!  You were my rock, and although we had very similar personalities and sometimes didn't see eye to eye on some things, I respected everything about you!!!  You taught me to be respectful to everyone and to always shake hands with a firm grip and to look someone in the eye when you first meet them.  You always called people Ma'am and Sir even when it was a telemarketer.  You loved to joke around when they would call you saying you won a trip to Hawaii, you would tell them you just walked in the door from there and were unpacking and to give the trip to someone who had never been there!!  Oh my sweet Daddy... I miss you so much!!!!  You will always be in my heart and soul and I will never forget everything we shared.. I feel you understood me so much.  Even know I hear your voice telling me it's going to be ok and that I can still talk to you.  Thank you my Daddy for everything and for helping me in every way possible to help raise our Jackson.  He misses his Papa so much!!!  Thank you for loving my husband as much as you did... you have left me in good hands and he doesn't want you to worry about me, Mama or Jackson.  I wished we could have bought our house in time so you could have lived with us but I'm trying to understand you needed to go because you were so tired and we're in constant pain.  You never complained and wanted to show us how strong you were...Rest my Daddy and know I will always keep your memory and stories alive!!!   Your Princess, your shadow and baby girl Kimberley  I love you MORE!!!

I will miss our telephone conversations and visits.  You were like a Dad to me after my own Father passed.  I will miss your stories, and your warm smile.  I know you are in a better place but that doesn't mean I won't miss you.  'Till we meet again, Adios, Uncle
