Bennie Lenwood Anderson, the eighth child of the late DeWitt & Anna (Hamlett) Anderson, was born on February 12, 1952, in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Bennie received his wings on August 3, 2021. He was predeceased by his siblings Curtis, Calvin, Elnora, and Dillard; and niece, Angelina.
Bennie graduated from Reidsville Senior High School to then serve in the United States Air Force for 20 years as an Instructional System Designer serving in Maryland, California, Alaska, England, Germany, and Colorado, where he met his beautiful wife, Georgia and wed on June 16, 1989. During his military service, Bennie earned the Meritorious Service Medal, several Air Force Commendation Medals, as well as his Associate in Applied Science in Education Administration Assistant from Community College of the Air Force. Not to be outdone by his daughters, Bennie received his Bachelors of Arts from Columbia College on July 2, 1995.
Bennie enjoyed music from every genre, drag racing, car enthusiast, volleyball, racket ball, cycling, and you know, he LOVED socializing (he never met a stranger).
He left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy of hard work, generosity, and service to his fellowman and woman, his wife of 32 years, Georg; brother Edward (Eloise) Anderson; sisters Veneda Pinnix Jones, and Marion (Charles) Gwynn; daughters, Jessica (Dale) Wallace and Candace Anderson; grand-daughters, Nandi and Imani Fambro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, military families, and friends.
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Bennie’s life in their own way, whether it be retelling one of his corny jokes or simply sharing a memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, see link below:
Bennie would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need.
