While in Boulder, Bettie gained employment with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph (Mountain Bell) where she worked as a "Service Representative". Doing well there she was given the opportunity to transfer to Denver, which she did, and soon after was promoted. In Denver she met Jim Hoida and they were married in 1970. They resided in Lakewood, Colorado.
Bettie loved many things. She loved to travel, shop, and have lunch with friends. She adored large family gatherings and decorating her home. She loved gardening and maintaining her large yard. And she particularly loved relaxing with a bag of chips and a coke at the end of a busy day.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, stepmom, aunt, and grandma to her large extended family.
She will be dearly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew her. Bettie’s love and support will be missed by all. She is survived by her son, Dan Hoida, daughter, Kathleen Ruby, sister Mary Jane Bessey, grandchildren Rachael Wood and Andrea Reitz, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers Harold, Emil Jr., Donald, and Howard Skov and Beverly Groves.
