

Betty Jo Herrera passed away peacefully at her home in Denver on February 15, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Nunez and Sally Baca, her daughter Crystal Payan and son Alan Romero, and sister Bernadine Nunez.
Born in Pueblo, Colorado, she lived in Denver for most of her life and attended West High School. She worked for the Denver Housing Authority for 25 years before retiring in 2016 to spend time with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, gambling up in Black Hawk or Las Vegas and loved Elvis Pressley and Betty Boop having an extensive collection of both. The Denver Broncos were her favorite team and she loved to dance, especially to Mexican music.
Survivors include her son, Martin Payan, her grandchildren Danea Payan-Solano, Baillie Romero, Alejandro and David Solano, sister Denise Rodriguez and brothers Leonard (Eleanor) and Frank Nunez and stepfather Jerry Baca. She is also survived by numerous family members including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral mass will be held for Betty on Friday, March 11, 2022, at 10:00 am at Presentation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 695 Julian Street, Denver. This will be followed by an inurnment at Crown Hill Cemetery, 777 West 29th Avenue, Wheatridge. A reception will be held immediately following the services.
