Betty James was born in 1924 in Denver, Colorado, to Henry and Katie Goetz, and she died October 15, 2020, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She met her husband, the only love of her life when he was the driver for her softball team. They married May 2, 1942, and had 50 years together. They built their lives together, centered on family, 2 children, Charlotte Snyder (Fred), Fruita, CO, and Cliff James (Anne), Scottsbluff, Nebraska. They had a strong church family at Evangel Baptist Church, had many friends there and were very active, where Betty was part of the choir, flower, and decorating committees.

Betty also enjoyed crafts, especially creating ceramic and stained glass art for family and friends. She loved to cook and feed people, especially her family. She enjoyed travel, in the United States and at different times journeyed to Europe, China and Thailand, she also loved playing the slot machines in an afternoon trip to Central City. Betty also had a string of over 200 point bowling game awards and was a member of a bowling league with Charles and their friends, for many years.

Betty moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, in 2013. Her family thanks the people at the Residence in Scottsbluff who helped care for her for the past few years.

Betty was proceeded in death by Charles, her parents and siblings (Fred, Amelia, Alma, Rose, Harry, Helen, and Esther). She is survived by both children, four grandchildren Lisa Snyder (Alan), Chad Snyder (LisaMarie), Scott James (Tina), and Jennifer James; nine great grandchildren, Jordan (Kayla), Saige (Brady), Jared, Siera, Christopher, Nathan, Karissa, Kaitlin, and Cadence; and four great, great grandchildren, Wyatt, Ava, Oliver, and Finley. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their families that she loved.

Betty enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, a good game of golf (the kind played with cards), babies, and desserts. She recently said, "I've had a good life." She will be missed by all of those who loved her.

Betty’s memorial will take place on Friday, October 30, 3:30 pm, virtually.
