From her days as a high school cheerleader to her lifelong involvement in her beloved Golden community; she participated in running races, wellness programs, fundraising efforts, and selflessly donated gallons of blood over the years.
One of Bonnie’s greatest joys was bringing happiness to others. As a registered clown, she visited children’s hospitals, parades, and homes for the elderly; spreading smiles, comfort, and laughter wherever she went. Her ability to connect with people—young and old—was one of her greatest gifts.
Bonnie had two children with her first husband Ray Kroeger (predeceased). She married Lou Burno with whom she shared more than 37 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they traveled extensively and enjoyed many cruises around the world, collecting memories and adventures along the way.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lou Burno and her daughter Vicki Holland, whom she always carried in her heart.
Bonnie is survived by her brother Robert Churches, her son Gary Kroeger and wife Holly, son-in-law Richard Holland, daughters Allison Burno, Michelle Penfold, and sons Cameron Burno and Colin McClaren. Also survived by grandchildren Kelly Holland, Lindsay Singh, Randall Kroeger, Abigail Britanyak, along with many extended family including grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bonnie grew up in a day and age where life was often tough and she not only chose to be a survivor, but chose optimism and joy. She was certain to make the best of things and the impact on the lives of those around her will never fade. A quote from her favorite book captured her outlook on life and chose to live by…
“You see, when you’re hunting for the glad things, you sort of forget the other kind…” – Pollyanna
With her quick wit, generous heart, playfulness and irrepressible spirit, she lit up the world.
