Chester Elwood Pritchard, “Chet,” of Golden, Colorado experienced his home-going to Jesus on Sunday January 18, 2026. Chet had just celebrated his 90th birthday. Chet was born in Goldsberry, Missouri on January 8, 1936 to Henry Royston and Fleta Pritchard. He moved with his family to Lincoln, Nebraska, and eventually settled in Denver, Colorado in the mid 1950’s, where he met the love of his life, Mary Lucille Bullock. They married after a short engagement in 1960 and had 2 sons, Steven (Brad) and David. Chet and Mary just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Chet worked for Hutchinson Homes as a concrete foreman before starting his own concrete company with Mary in 1969. Chet and Mary ran the business for more than 40 years before handing over the reins. Chet always strived for uncompromising excellence in his work and spent much of his daily time with others sharing his faith in God.
A man of deep Christian faith, Chester lived his beliefs daily —through humility, honesty, generosity, and service to others. His faith guided every aspect of his life and was evident in the way he treated people, led his family, and conducted his business.
Chet found great joy on the water. He loved waterskiing, but he especially loved sharing that gift with other people by teaching them to ski and ministering to them all the while. Whether behind the boat or sharing time with loved ones at the lake, those moments reflected his appreciation for life’s simple blessings and the joy of fellowship.
Above all, Chester was a devoted family man. He loved his wife Mary dearly, and his family. He led by example, and passed on strong values of faith, responsibility, and kindness. His steady presence, wisdom, and strength will be profoundly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Chester Elwood Pritchard leaves behind a legacy of faith, and the legacy of his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Marion; sons, Steven Bradley Pritchard (wife Debbie), David Pritchard (wife Lorrie); 6 grandchildren (Steven, Anna, Isaac, Joseph, Isabel, and Joey) and 2 great grandchildren (Frances and Phoebe Hecker), and a host of nieces and nephews.
His life stands as a testament to what it means to live with purpose, serve faithfully, and build something lasting — both in the work of his hands and in the hearts of others.
