June 12, 1967 – January 4, 2026
David Lee Castorena, age 58, passed away in his sleep peacefully as his heart gave out on January 4th 2026 in Denver, Colorado.
Born on June 12, 1967, in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, David carried both craftsmanship and curiosity in his DNA. A lifelong marble and granite mason, he was an artist in every sense of the word, known for an uncompromising eye for detail and a belief that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing right. Stone may have been his medium, but pride was his signature.
David was silly, funny, and charismatic, and had a deep love for life’s mysteries—both the cosmic and the everyday variety. He was passionate about music (heavy metal & mariachi) played loud as intended, his truck (which he loved almost as much as family), and pondering the bigger questions of existence—usually with a grin and a raised eyebrow. David also had a profound connection with animals and nature, and little Prince (the family dog) will be forever searching for him. He was joy to be around.
He was a devoted son to his mother, Mary Romana Castorena, who survives him. He now reunites with his father, Victor Manuel Castorena, who preceded him in death, along with his uncle Eloy Alfredo Castorena and his grandparents Rosa and Heriberto Villa, all surely waiting to welcome him home with open arms.
David was a proud big brother to his sisters, Deanna Rose Espejo and Miriam Tapia Salinas, and to his brother, George Stephen Castorena, all of whom survive him. When he felt it mattered, David stepped into the role of protector—ready to stand up, speak out, and fight for his siblings without hesitation.
He was also father to Lorenzo Alexander Haidl, Victor James Fossen-Castorena, and David Lee Castorena Jr., who continue his legacy of strength, individuality, good looks and quiet resilience. David also leaves behind two beloved grandchildren, Oziah Raee Castorena and Zariah LaRee Castorena.
Services will be held on January 19, 2026, beginning with a viewing at 9:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m., and burial at 12:00 noon at: Olinger Crown Hill 7777 W. 29th Avenue Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
A reception will follow beginning with additional details to be shared.
David’s hands shaped stone, but his life shaped people. He leaves behind memories that are solid, enduring, and impossible to forget—much like him. If there’s a monster truck rolling through the next life on oversized tires with heavy metal blasting, everyone will know exactly who it is. We miss you already and love you eternally.
