Our beloved David Herzel 67, passed away peacefully Friday October after fighting a courageous short battle with cancer. He was the son of Delwyn “Duke” and Mary Herzel, beloved “one and only” brother of Brenda Massey, and to the rest of his family he was our “Favorite Dave”.
Dave was born in Canon City, CO and grew up in Littleton, CO where he graduated from Littleton High School in 1970. He was such a well rounded athlete with a variety of sports. He even received the Badcat award during high school for football. He went on to the University of Colorado where he studied Business.
Dave became very involved in various restaurant business ventures. He then went on to have a long and successful career at ISEC. While working his way up to becoming Vice President of ISEC he managed many high profile projects nationwide. Dusty Morgan, President of ISEC had these words to say “He will be remembered by his colleagues for his entrepreneurial spirit and positive approach to life. More importantly, he will be remembered as a loyal friend and leader who touched the lives and careers of everyone that he worked with.”
He retired in 2017 and then spent many well deserved days enjoying the Floridian sunshine, family time on the boat, and cruising with the top down in his new gift to himself, white convertible.
Dave is survived by his Mom and Dad, “one and only” Sister, Aunts and Uncles, and many beloved Cousins. He was preceded in death by his dear Aunt Ruth, Aunt Mary, and Cousin Cathy.
The family would like to thank everyone who has sent their condolences and kind words. Dave was always thinking of others and loved to give. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Dave Herzel Scholarship Fund at Wells Fargo.
