

95, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2017 in Arvada, Colorado. He was one of four boys born to Fred and Amelia Gantenbein in Carlton, Kansas. He is predeceased by his mother, father and two brothers, Marvin Gantenbein and Don Gantenbein and survived by a brother, Kenneth Gantenbein. He is also survived by his wife Donna Gantenbein, children Marilyn Dean (Jerry), Jeanette Sandquist (Tom), Mike Gantenbein (Shelly) and Serina Brant (Kim) and step-children, Jeanne Smith, Deb Stogdill, Tim Hackman, Mark Hackman and John Hackman, 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
He was a decorated combat officer in WW II and Korea Wars having been awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Combat Infantry Rifleman Badge, 3 Campaign Ribbons in Europe and 3 campaign Ribbons in Korea. He moved to Denver after the Korean War and worked for the US Postal Service unto his retirement. He was a member of the Arvada United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and woodworking. He left a legacy of love for his family, concern for others and a life-long model of values. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial service Friday, January 20, 2017, 10am at Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr St., Arvada, Colorado 80004. He will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
