A resident of Arvada, Colorado, Del passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18. Preceded in death by husbands Roy Lowe and Earnest Taylor, she is survived by: daughter Doreen (David) McNicholas and son Roy (Mindy) Denley; grandchildren Lindsay McNicholas (Matthew Gray), Connor, Benjamin, and Caelan Denley, and Carter Morrison; great-granddaughter Brennan McNicholas-Gray; siblings Fran Sawyer, Thomas Carpenter, Edward Carpenter, Rosella Hafer, and Frank Carpenter; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Born in Aguilar, Colorado to Emma and Samuel Carpenter, Del savored her time in the southwest. With a long career in the service industry, Del, along with her husband Roy, owned and operated restaurants and bars including the Del Rio in Delores, Colorado, Singing Sam’s Café in Dove Creek, Colorado, and the A&W Restaurant in Blanding, Utah. She moved to Denver in 1970 and retired from F.W. Woolworth in 1989. Del enjoyed being outdoors, trying her luck at lotto tickets, trips "up the hill" to Central City, making and eating pizzelles, and spending time with friends and family. She will be remembered as a generous and loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Always up for fun and a good prank, she brought a smile to everyone she met. She will be missed dearly.
A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, September 26 at 1:00 at Confluence Ministries, 1400 Quitman St., Denver.
