Dennis Duane Whisler

Dennis was born to Edwin and Rosalie Whisler on October 30, 1942 in Rockford, Illinois. Edwin and Rosalie both grew up in Centerville, Iowa. Edwin was a welder, a craft he learned in World War II. It was his welding which brought him to Colorado, so he could supervise the construction of the Federal Center in Lakewood, CO. Rosalie worked nights as a bartender at Clancy’s, so she could take care of her three boys during the day.

Dennis grew up moving around a lot with his parents, in search for a place to call home. He found that home in 1963 when he moved to Colorado and met Lynne. They were married on June 9, 1964 and were married for 57 years before her death on September 20, 2021. Dennis lived a full life. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science from University of Colorado, he taught high school health and driver’s education classes, coached youth and college football, and became the Arvada Neighborhood Realtor.

Dennis joins his wife (Lynne Marie), parents (Edwin and Rosalie), his brother (Darrell Shane), and his son-in-law (Dorian Noel) in Heaven. He is survived by many loving family members including Jannelle Marie Schlensog and her husband Oliver; Gregory Shane Whisler, and Shaylyn Marie De Long. He also leaves behind grandchildren and great grandchildren beginning with Jeffrey Langnes, his wife Lauren and their children Katelynn and AJ (Andrew Jonathan); Barrett Langnes, his wife Kristen; John Moore, Jamal Schlensog, Stratton Whisler, Luka Lamperouge, and Genevieve (Evie) De Long. His niece, DeAnna Harwood and her husband Troy, his brother Russell Whisler and his wife Lauri, as well as special members to the family, Troy and Tenicia Lowrie and Tony and Nita Palone.

A a celebration of life for Dennis will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
