Donald was raised in North Denver and he graduated from North High School in June of 1944.
He entered the United States Army Air Corps in July of 1944, where he trained and served as a Ball Turret gunner on a B-17 at Rapid City South Dakota and was assigned to crew 037.
Donald was later discharged from the Army Air corps in July of 1946. He obtained the rank of Sergeant.
He was hired out on the Colorado Southern Railroad in July of 1946, and was promoted to Conductor in 1950.
He was later elected to the following union offices: Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Snowy Range Lodge no. 30 which later merged to United Transportation Union Local 202. His total railroad service was 44 years.
He spent 16 years as the Local Lodge Secretary, 12 years as the local Chairman and 8 years as General Chairman.
He was a 65 year member of Paul Revere Lodge 162 AF and AM merged to Arvada Lodge no. 130.
Donald is survived by his wife Shirley V. Hill and his son Roy D. (Betty) Hill.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 31 at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
