Don was born on December 15, 1931 to the late John Albert Zick, and Elizabeth Fultz Zick. He was married to Norma Rita Sekinger, the love of his life for nearly 40 years, until her death on May 8, 2006. Don was preceded in death by his four brothers John Albert Zick, Jr, William Ray Zick, Robert Allen Zick, and his twin brother Dean Edward Zick. He leaves behind 12 nieces and nephews: John Albert Zick III, Diana Lynn Zick, William Ray Zick Jr., Lona Lee Arnold, Janice Rae Krob, Sandra Jean Hutchinson, Carol Ann Snell, Charol Mae Wilson, Cathy Lou Janssen, Karen Elizabeth Tinnes, Shelly Kathryn Heckendorf, Gregory Scott Zick, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Don had his own successful business and was a pioneer in data processing and computing. He had one of the first on site main frame computers in his office. He would talk about the physical size of the computer and how it needed its own room and cooling system. Don was also an avid skier. Norma and Don traveled extensively abroad and domestically and enjoyed time in their home on Dillion Lake in the summers and the Polo club in the winters. He was President and active member of the Polo Club Homeowner Association. There were a lot of fun stories about the time he and Dean spent in Grand Lake with all the other family members who worked there in the summers. Don loved to play cards and games with family members. He had an infectious laugh, loved life, and lived it to the fullest. He named his car Puma and had specialized license plates. Don always said “you can choose to be happy or choose to be miserable.” He chose to be happy. He wanted to be the oldest in his immediate family to pass away and he made it. Don will be laid to rest at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery where he will be next to his beloved wife Norma. We love you Uncle Don and wish you peace as you complete your journey. God Bless you. You will be missed.
A graveside service for Donald will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cem, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
