Donna Lee Calabrese Delmonico was born in Denver, Colorado on June 25, 1935. She passed away Tuesday, at the age of 76, on March 6, 2012, after her long phenomenal battle against Melanoma. She went to heaven, from her home, with her loyal, faithful family by her side constantly.
Donna was an extraordinary woman, remarkable mother, and devoted wife. At an early age she loved sports and was a passionate achiever. She retired from King Sooper's after over 20 years, became a professional caterer, and was a devoted homemaker. She was an active member of St Mary's and a member of the Alter and Rosary Society at Mt Carmel Church, where she and her husband, Big Ken, were married 58 years ago.
Donna was immensely proud of her children and their accomplishments. She taught all of her children integrity, strength of character, and to cook. She truly enjoyed cooking, dancing, and cooking! She dedicated her time to her incredible family and taught all of us to become better people. She touched hundreds of lives with her charming ability to engage conversation and learned about people from all over the world. She was devoted to the Virgin Mary and traveled to numerous countries and cities. Her special vacation travels were to Rome and the Vatican where she had a personal audience with the Pope. She also went to Fatima, Guadalupe, Lourdes, and Brazil to see the Cristo.
She is preceded in death by her grandson Nicholas, whom she is with now. She is survived by her tremendous family; her husband (Kenneth John Sr.), six children (Kenneth John Jr (Rina), Michael Joseph (Barbara), Anna Marie Wade (Vince), Joseph Anthony (Leisha), Anthony Dominic (Melissa), and Daniel Matthew (Lisa). She adored her 16 grandchildren (Christine, Shannon, Angela, Misty, Little Joe, AJ, Jake, Curtis, Kara, Marin, Samuel, Tory, Meagan, David, Mary Rose), and 6 great grandchildren (Jaylen, Vince, Dillon, Dean, Logan, Jace). She is also survived by her two sisters Marie Sprinkle (Ronnie), and Marlene Sewolt (George). All loved her immensely and she will truly be missed most reverently.
Her rosary will be held Friday, March 9th, 2012 at 7:00pm at Mt Carmel Church 3549 Navajo Street, Denver, Co 80211. Her memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at 10:00am at Mt Carmel Church.
Per Donna's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
Donna, we will always love you.
