

Doris attended Roosevelt-Lincoln Junior High School and was a graduating member of the class of 1942, Salina High School, Salina, Kansas. She attended that class’s 55th reunion. From high school, Doris moved on to college at the University of Kansas at Lawrence, Kansas. She majored in history getting conferred to the Alpha-Omicron Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta on May 24, 1946.
Doris married Charles Burton on New Years Eve, 1958 enjoying 61 years of marriage. Charles and Doris met while both were working in admissions at the University of Denver.
Doris typed, knew shorthand and wrote acceptance letters to prospective students at DU. She also worked as Administrative Assistant for Charles’s bookkeeping business for several years.
Doris enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, gardening, and photography, but her great love was traveling with her husband, flying over 30,000 air miles. She greatly enjoyed vacationing in such places as Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, and Arizona before venturing off to more exciting adventures to Australia, New Zealand, England, France, Spain, Switzerland, China, Tahiti, Morocco as well as several cruises culminating on a wonderful excursion to the Caribbean on the Queen Elizabeth 2.
Doris also enjoyed time with her family, especially her two grandsons. She enjoyed a mean game of Boggle or Trivial Pursuit in her later years and was very hard to beat.
Doris is predeceased by her parents, John and Fern Pyle, and her husband, Charles Burton.
She is survived by her daughter, Cesilie Ann Burton Botello, her son-in-law, Juan David Botello, both of Aurora, Colorado. And, two grandsons, Greg (Allyce) Botello, of Aurora, Colorado, and Steven (JJ) Botello, of Mesa, Arizona. She has one great granddaughter, Melody, also of Mesa.
