

Dorothy R. Edwards, age 98, of Longmont and formerly of Commerce City, Colorado, departed this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. She was born in St. Louis, MO, on October 16th, 1917. She was the fourth of six children born to Raymond T. and Elizabeth McAtee Perry. The family moved to Denver when Dorothy was in the fourth grade. She attended Denver public schools and graduated from East High School.
Dorothy and her husband Curly spent years fishing the trout streams of Colorado. Dorothy was also an expert canner and was well-known for her tangy dill pickles which she generously shared. Dorothy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over sixty years. She was also an avid reader and loved growing her roses. She moved to Longmont in 2000 to be near her children who were dedicated in caring for her. She lived independently until December of 2015 when illnesses began to take their toll. She lived her last months at the Brookdale Longmont Assisted Living Center where she received excellent and loving care. Her family is grateful to the Brookdale staff.
Dorothy is survived by her son Dan (Carylon) Edwards and her daughter Nancy (Ron) Crispe. She had nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Curly, and her younger son, Paul Timothy.
Services will be conducted at Olinger Crown Hill with visitation on Monday, June 20th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and funeral service on Tuesday, June 21st at 3:00. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/SharynSmith2016.
