It is because of Butch that I came to love Colorado. Upon moving here and having a baby one month later, Butch and Joy were the first to visit us at the hospital. We had no family here and they took over. Butch came by to see us all the time. Our lives have been touched by this special man and we will never forget him. Cannot wait until we meet again.

My Dad was always my mentor and he gave me guidance until they day he took his last breath. It makes me so proud of him to hear of so many other people he mentored and how willing he always was to help others.

There are many lessons that I am still learning from him... how to live graciously and die gracefully. He was my hero and I will look forward to the day when I can sit at his feet once again! Until then I will miss him greatly and I will do what I can to honor him through my life.

The Denver Fire Department lost a big part of its history with the passing of Butch. Butch could tell stories for hours and would keep you on the edge of your seat. Butch will be missed by all those who knew him. God bless Butch and his family.  Deputy Chief Tony Cito, Aurora Fire Department

I remember playing the organ at my Church,(5 points)and looked out the window and saw 4 fireman in the parking lot enjoying the choir. After service I went to 3's and met Lt. Buller. That begin many afternoons of mentoring/coaching. I told him many times my life goal was to be a fireman,and had spent many Sundays at 18's,(Capt. Bob Bishop) but he always claimed me as one of "his" recruits. I'm so glad he was there, he was a great man. You know when you been in the presence of it because it always takes you futher then you ever thought possibile. I now know that Greatness is not what you do, it's who you are!. He gave me a direct order to call Chief Gonzales, and tell him I wanted to be the department Chaplain. I am now retired and waiting for my bus called transition, but I will always be greatful for all he shared and did. One last word as you journey on Chief; LONNIE SMITH!!! lol (you had to know the story :) Blessings...

He is the reason I became Chaplin, he gave me a direct order to call Chief Gonzales and tell him I wanted to be the Chaplin! Yeah, he was like that. that was over 36 years ago. Now I'm retired and standing on the bus stop waiting for the final bus. Chief Buller was a great man, you know greatness when you meet it, because it always takes you father then you ever dreamed possibile. Greatness..It's not what you do, It's who you are! Thanks Chief. One last thing to help you on your journey...Lonnie Smith!!:) (you have to know the story)

Chief, you made a difference in so many lives because you were there to listen and help others find the way. You will be truly missed.

Butch you made a difference in so many ways for so many. Because of you so many firefighters are safer and better trained. You were my mentor, my teacher, and friend. The world is less without you but more because you were here. Thank you for all that you did for me and my career. Rest well.

Condolences to Joy and family from Noah & Char Orr-Webb. Will be missed as part of the volunteer "family" at the Denver Firefighters Museum. I would visit Standley Lake Library, Butch & Joy would be there, too. Can't forget his scooter, DFD license plate stood out.

Butch, thanks for teaching me so much about the job and guiding through my career.  You were great boss and friend.

Where do I start? Butch was my friend, my brother in Christ, a fellow elder in the church and a "get real" mentor when things were hectic. While we served together as elders of the church of Christ in Arvada, he was a stabilizing force. He always knew what to say and when not to say anything. I learned a great deal from him. Many things I will never forget. He was unassuming but a leader. He could be very serious but extremely funny. He saw humor in life and confident as he neared the end of his life. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Godspeed Butch, save a seat for me.
Joy, Mitch, Gaye, I pray that the God of heaven will give you the peace that you need right now, knowing that your husband, father and grandfather of you children, was secure in his faith.

I will never ever forget the great hospitality that Eldon and Joy show each and every person who walks thru their door. Eldon was a great guy with tons  of integrity. Always had a funny story! It was a great shock to hear of his passing but know that he is pain free and can breath just fine! 
Will will celebrate his life until we meet him and our Savior!

Steve and I would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of Butch and Joy Buller.  Although we didn't know Butch, what we have heard from Gaye (and the woman she is), speaks volumes of the character of man that he was.  We know he will be deeply missed by you all, but the memories of him will live on in your hearts.  It will often be the little things that he did or said that will touch you in the days to come. Butch was such a great mentor and friend to me in learning about God and teaching me in my Christian walk.  I always admired him and his quest for knowledge and ability to share it with others.  He was a great Elder in the church and just a wonderful friend.  I loved his sense of humor and my mom, Elaine, thought the world of him.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Joy, and your family. What a privilege it was to have known him. But I know we will meet again........

My deepest sympathies to the Buller Family. I've always been impressed with the respect and affection DFD ff's and staff had for him throughout his career.  I have great memories of him at HQ.

I don't personally know Mr. Buller but I believe that it shows just what a great person he was by the kids he has raised.  I have just gotten to know Gaye and I think she is wonderful.  God bless Mr. Buller - Rosie Malinovskii

I had the privelege of knowing Butch during our years working for the City of Denver.  He was a professional in every sense of the word.  He loved the Fire Service, his Department and the City.  What I remember most about Butch was how much he cared about everyone he came in contact with and his willingness to go out of his way to help you.  He was the best and will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

Butch and Joy were the first to welcome us to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group 2 years ago.  Our sympathies go out to Joy and the famiy.  May God sustain you in these days.

Butch loved being a firefighter. He was very good at it and this made him very proud. He was always there for you and loved helping people. I will miss him and the guidance that I received from him. He truly was one of those special people. Lorren Ballard

Butch always had something funny to say about everything.  I will miss his unexpected comments that made you laugh.  He and Joy enriched my life a lot.  I am so lucky to be friends with them.  When my husband died 5 years ago, Butch would call me 2 or 3 times a week to see how I was doing.  It helped me a lot to know that someone cared that much.  What a special caring person he was.  I will be there for Joy now and let her know that someone cares like he did.
