Elida Rodriguez, 94, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at her home in Lakewood, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 19, 1931, in San Angelo, Texas, Elida lived a life marked by resilience, devotion, and deep love for her family and faith.
Elida was baptized Catholic and remained a faithful servant of Christ throughout her life. From a young age, she worked alongside her parents and siblings in the cotton fields of Texas. These
early experiences instilled in her a strong work ethic and unwavering determination that would guide her through every chapter of her life.
She dedicated many years to Levi Strauss & Co., where she worked as a seamstress and inspector. Even after retirement, Elida continued to share her talents generously. She sewed projects for her children and grandchildren and contributed to her parish community. One of her most cherished contributions was designing and sewing all the costumes for the Stations of the Cross at St. Jude Parish—a labor of love that reflected both her craftsmanship and deep spiritual devotion.
Elida had a special devotion to La Virgen de Guadalupe and made pilgrimages to Mexico City to honor the Blessed Mother. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength during difficult times and guiding her actions with compassion and grace.
Family was the center of Elida’s life. She raised six children: Juan Antonio "Tony" Peña (Suzie),Teresa Ranns (Owen), Rosa Muckle, Margie Stanley (Donald), Luis Peña, and Dolores Wear (Lloyd). Her legacy continues through 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She delighted in spending time with them, often cooking their favorite meals—especially her famous tamales—and showering them with affection.
Elida’s life was always filled with warmth, laughter, music, and celebration. She loved dancing to Tejano music and Cumbias and never missed an opportunity to party. Her green thumb brought beauty into every space she touched; flowers bloomed under her care and dedication.
She is preceded in death by her parents Juan M. Rodriguez and Catalina Rodriguez de Partida; siblings Vicky Talavera (Victor), John Rodriguez (May), and Daniel Rodriguez. Elida’s life was one of service—to God, to family, to community—and she leaves behind a legacy rich in love, faith, and perseverance. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire generations to come.
