He is preceded in death by his wife Maxine and son Dennis, as well as his mother and father along with two brothers and seven sisters.
Eugene was born in Denver, Colorado on August 20, 1929, to Carmine & Jennie Cardilla Bruno and grew up on the north side of town.
Gene joined the Marine Reserves and proudly served his country during the Korean war. Unfortunately, Gene was injured early in his service time and was shipped back home. Gene has been an active member of the Disabled American Veterans since his injury. He was always proud to be a Marine, still wearing his Marine Corp Veteran hat and displaying the flag proudly in his front yard.
After the Marines, Gene returned to Denver where he met his wife, Maxine. They were married for 62 years until her death in 2017. Gene and Maxine had six children Carol (Michael)Tronick, Dennis, Patrick (Bobbie) Bruno, Dale (Angela) Bruno, Randy (Ruby) Bruno and Beth Fields. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
After his service in the Marines, Gene started his career as a cabinet maker at a Mill Shop in Denver and worked many years at his trade. He then took a job at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center where he retired in August 1991. After work and on weekends, you could find Gene in the garage building something. After his retirement he started to build wooded trucks, tractors and toys. He finished the last truck he built in September 2023.
When Gene wasn’t working, he liked to work in his garden, garage, going fishing, and spending time in the Mountains with his family. Gene was a giving soul and contributed proudly for two decades to the Arvada Fire Departments Operations Santa. Some of his happiest moments where watching Santa deliver toys to the needy boys and girls of Arvada. In the summer he and mom would spend time at the cabin they built as a family where they would hang out there or go fishing.
