Floyd H. (Wink) Winkler, a long time resident of Leadville, Colorado died September 12th, 2023 at his home. He was born in Denver Colorado on February 4th 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Merty (Powers) Beaman and siblings Merle (Marguerite) Beaman, Alice (William) Winkler, Edith ( George ) Roberts and Carol Joanne (Harold) Kirkpatrick. He is survived by his children Olyna Agee and Olissa Forsland, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In his early life, Wink raced Greyhounds through the western states and held several records for fastest race times. He served in the US army from 1961 to 1964 as an auto mechanic and was proud to be designated as a rifle sharpshooter. He worked for many years at the Climax Mine, Western Slope Utilities, and Mallette Oil as a miner and truck driver. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains hunting, fishing, prospecting, and riding his snowmobile to the highest peaks. His greatest pleasure was metal detecting and hunting for the elusive gold nugget.
Wink was a true mountain man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
